The biggest candidate to trade up is the Buffalo Bills. While the last thing the Jets and Bills want to do is help each other. With that said, if you were in charge of the Jets upcoming draft and the phone rings, what would the Buffalo Bills have to offer in exchange for the number three overall pick for you to say yes?
First round picks for the next decade, and all of their draft picks in this draft. Then, I want Tre'Davious White added to the deal as well.
I am not sure who would get the better of this one but if they offered #12 & # 24 this year and a first round pick in either 2019 or 2020 that would be enough for me. Of course I don't like the QBs this year as much as you guys do even though I think we could potentially move back up from # 12 to get Mayfield if he drops a bit. It would be easier to take less if we didn't give up so much to move up from # 6.
Interesting question. Since the question assumes I'm in charge, my response would depend a lot on what condition I thought Bridgewater was in. Health aside, Bridgewater fits what the Jets need in a FQB without a lot of the risk. He's young, has experience and is a winner. If I was convinced he could return to his former level, I might trade out of the 3rd pick. However, I would demand the Bills two 1st rounders this year, one second round this year (puts the Jets back in round 2) and next year's 1st. Rationale: While the Jets would obviously miss out on one of the top 4 QB's, it becomes less of a problem with a healthy Bridgewater. If I still wanted to hedge my bets, I could still go QB later in the draft with Jackson, Rudolph or Falk. In my opinion, these guys are legitimate 1st round talents that could still be available when I pick.
If I'm on the clock and the QB I traded up for is available, it would take a hell of a lot to trade that QB to a division rival. It would probably take their first 2 1st rounders this year. Both of their 2nd rounders. And their 1st round pick in 2019 and 2020.
Honestly if they came calling it would take MORE than getting to #2 and this is because they are in our division. It would take #12 + #22 + 1st 2019 + 2nd 2018 + 2nd 2019
Ahahahahahah...Wilkerson Cent beat me to the punch You would have to have S-T-U-P-I-D written on your forehead ..for ANY DEAL Right ..let's wait another 9 years to grab the third best ...or maybe THE best QB if we are lucky
If our two favorite QBs are off the board three first round picks (including two this year) would be tempting. We could get a pass rusher and lineman this year and would have two first rounders going into next year's draft. If Bridgewater pans out or if we get Folks, etc. in free agency those first rounders could be used to fill other holes.
Lol if we are gifting the bills a franchise QB it better be for more then 3 firsts and a couple of 2nds... 3 mid round firsts will net us a couple of meh pass rushers who get the classic jets 4-6 sacks max before being cut in 4 years and the 2nds have a 80 percent bust potential for us. I would need 7 firsts and 7 seconds fuck the bills. Even then I'll probably still not want to give them a franchise guy
If the QB Buffalo then took went on to a HOF career or even if he had Buffalo at the top of the division for the next decade, it wouldn't matter what we got in return. It wouldn't be worth it. You don't help a team in our division. Like Wilkerson Central, I hang up the phone.
I love these threads considering Macagnan undoing what was conceivably and historically one of the BEST moves of his tenure here..just SMH
Enough for you doesn't matter. If a franchise trades away a QB that ends up being elite to a division rival in the top 3 picks, and that franchise has no answer at QB for themselves, that franchise looks like bigger fools than any point the Jets have looked in franchise history. So, to answer your question, the price is 2 1's, 2 2's, and 3 3's. That is the price.
