Okay I have been very vocal about selecting Foster with the # 6 overall but my second option is definitely Leonard Fournette. I would much rather take a game changer like Fournette over an unknown CB or Safety that early. Especially as deep as this draft is on defense. I have seen a lot of debates about Fournette vs Cook. Watch just two minutes of tape on both. Cook is a great runningback that will be successful in the NFL but Fournette he's an absolute stud and I really think he will have a better career than Zeke. Anyhow my question is what would the runningback situation look like? How would we utilize Fournette, Forte, & Powell? Unfortunately I feel that Powell would be the odd man out. I wish Forte's contract was structured a little differently where we could part ways with him this year without any dead money. Forte is likely a goner after the upcoming season. I would love to see Fournette be are workhorse and Powell a change of pace & 3rd down back. However if we draft Fournette I see Powell getting very little reps. Two things two dream of: 1. If we sign Tyrod Taylor and draft Fournette, that would be a pretty fun offense to watch with Powell (if utilized), Deck, Enunwa, Anderson, etc. 2. Draft Fournette, tank the season, draft Sam Darnold and roll into 2018 with a new coaching staff and an offense powered by Darnold and Fournette. Okay I will stop dreaming, sorry I am a jets fan like the rest of you. LOL
So Hackenberg never gets a chance to start? Got it. We will never get Darnold. Because as much as we suck, Browns and Jaguars will always suck more.
I think Fournette would be an excellent pick. But Mac will need to simultaneously do some serious revamping of the OL. Right now the kid just wouldn't be able to do anything behind our porous OL. So definitely I could go for Fournette, but the draft would have to be all about the OL after the 6th overall. Certainly could use FA also.
I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole he has bust written all over him if we do go RB we should take Cook !
how does he have bust? he graded out better then zeke and is considered the best prospect at RB since peterson
Actually, our problem is that we suck at sucking. We're always just good enough, or just less than abysmal, so that we don't get those #1, #2 picks.
I don't think he'll be a "bust", but he might not hold up over time given his style of running. For that reason - and also because Cook is rated as a better receiver - I think Cook is the better choice.
people are underestimating how explosive this dude is ... i think fournette is going to run near 4.4 flat at the combine i would definitely pick him at six
Hack is the biggest joke of a Quarterback I have ever seen. Judging by your photo I assume your pretty biased on Hack, if you seen a write up I did on him awhile back you will see that I am mainly a Bama fan but also a PSU fan (I live 25 miles away from campus) I have been to every home game of Hacks career and he is a complete bust trust me.
My whole reason for this post was to see how you guys thought the runningback situation would be. Would Powell lose touches or Forte? My guess is Powell and I feel he is a better back than Forte especially paired with Fournette
I think Fournette is going to live up the hype, I really do. He is such a well oiled machine. The injury bug is the only concern but I don't think it's a major concern with him. I think the importance of an explosive RB is making a little bit of a comeback in the NFL with more reliance on them in the passing game a la Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman, Zeke and more. I almost forgot f'in James White in the SB. What'd he have about 20 catches!
Drafting Fournette would do one thing for this offense, for certain: show the NFL how bad the Jets Offensive line is. He might live up to the hype somewhere else, but I doubt he'll go anywhere wearing Green and White.
I think Forte was not happy with the way he was ran up the middle 50 times a game while Powell was brought in on passing downs last season. Forte sees himself as a pass catcher, not a 50 times up the gut guy.
Nice post ...different idea,,,,someone else on board with tanking The Lost Season of 2017 There are TWO QBs to be grabbed in 2018 ROSEN and Darnold
Maybe not, but that doesn't mean we couldn't get Rosen or Jackson. Jackson, at the very least, would be exciting to watch. I'd like to see Hack get a chance first though.
You guys act like this line can't be fixed in an offseason. It's not that bad If nick comes back healthy he has another year or two in him if not Johnson stepped in and did well, we have two quality gaurds. We need two tackles and shell showed promise if he has a good offseason and camp he will be the starting right tackle. All that's left is left tackle and there are options out there.
