I see him as a RB that played although hurt. Played behind subpar OLines and still racked up impressive stats. A leader on the field by EXAMPLE, not by his mouth.

I also see him as a victim of a shortsighted CS that ran him into the ground without remorse.

    Biggest class act.

Someone who will restructure his contract to help the team. Someone who will take a rookie under his wing. One of the most underated RB's ever.

Yeah, I don't know about this.

The guy did play one of the most physically demanding jobs in sports for 11 seasons on the professional level. That far surpassed the average.

He could have gotten injured playing beach volleyball on Pro Bowl weekend.

Would I have liked to have seen Jordan get more carries from 2001-2004?
Jordan had 39, 84, 46, and 93. If those numbers were 60, 120, 85, 140, would Martin be physically able to perform today?
    I don't know.

Three of Martin's four highest marks in rushing attempts were years where Bill Parcells was the head coach. Maybe if Parcells didn't overwork Martin so very much back in the day, he'd be okay today?

(And, by the way, don't get it twisted. I am in no way a Hackett or Edwards supporter.)

    ************

Now, to the question at hand.

I will remember him most as one of the classiest guys to play the game. There were no asinine end zone dances with this player.
He also ranks high atop the list of toughest players of all time.

I don't think I can remember a player so classy and so consistent. He was a model teamate and football player.

I'm certain he'll someday make the hall of fame.

I also see him as a guy who had an amazing life after being held at gunpoint.

I voted for "Biggest class act", and I agree with what everyone has said so far regarding that option.

The only reason I didn't vote for "Playing through Dibilitating Injuries" was because I feel that falls under the "Class Act" option. The guy had so many injuries that he never complained about and continued to carry the work-load for years with them and never say a word. He didn't allow the injuries to get into his head, and I think that speaks tons for his character, therefore, I think those two options are really one in the same.

I went with class act, but would have voted for somethign about consistency as in most 1000 yard seasons in a row or whatever.

A less broad moment, but I think I'll always remember Martin against Cincinatti diving for the pilon, and scoring before his near 200 yard day in a year that he was said to be done.

me too, that what i wanted.

And as for a defining moment. Well it has to be him winning the rushing title the season before last when everyone was writing him off.

i see him as a running back and i think all of you should too.

i think he would rather be remembered as a great running back with class more than a man with great class who was a running back

That pales next to getting "turf toe" in your own livingroom. Hehehe. Cripes, no-one ever gets that when I drag it out. Damn sorry lot.

Damn right. Tough choices, but I picked 'Biggest Class Act'. It's such a rarity these days. Loudmouth cr*p, I hate it.

EDIT: Biggest Class Act is winning. Yay! Passion and class married to talent, the 'Walter Paytons' of the world can still neutralize the dreck! Fancy that.

I remember when we first signed Martin & he struggled through the first couple of games. "32 Million for this bum!"

but my opinion of him changed dramatically. He's a class act & one of the most under rated RB's in NFL history. I hope he doesn't retire, but if he is done I wish him the best and hope to see him as an analyst or broadcaster for football somewhere. Truely one of the greats both on & off the field.

Well, the thing I'll remember most about him would be when he trucked through the '02 season (I think it was '02) on two severely sprained ankles. That was badass.

4th All Time and Biggest Class act was tie, but gave the slight edge to 4th All Time. 4th All Time also includes consistency, work ethic, and drive.

Yeah, Fat Parcells gave him the ball 3 times on the 1 and he didn't score. Something like that. It was OK by me. I don't look stuff up - I go by visual imprints.
