I would vote for that lineup myself.

Is Cothery only starting to be good? I mean, he's been on the team for what, 4 years now, and he hasn't really seen much time. Or are our WR just that bad now?

Herm refused to let him play! He is better than every wr on the team. He broke all of Tory Holts records in college.

NO! He's BEEN GOOD the whole time. Whenever he saw action, however limited, he performed. Great hands, routes, drag down to tackle the guy by multiple defenders. I've been one of his biggest proponents on this board!

It's just that our CS had no clue and no desire to insert promising youth, and instead played the loyalty card by putting Chrebet in Cotchery's legit, #3 spot.

There is no way that Chrebet should have been the slot receiver last year over Cotchery, but that's another debate. Now it's Cotchery's time to shine!

He's entering his third season with the Jets.
This is the time in many receivers' careers when they start to "get it".

YA thats a good lineup buy I think it will be
Coles then McCariens, then Cotchery...which Cotchery maybe taking over number 2 during the season....and Dwight and Smith behind them.

You never know, they might keep Qwight as a ST guy and add another WR like Ridgeway perhaps.....it would be too bad to cut a guy like Ridgeway after hearing how well he has performed this TC.

Me too...But given a strong preseason and continued success in training camp, who's to say that Smith can't rise to #4, or possibly #3?

I was a huge McCareins fan going into camp last year... very high on the guy. But you couldn't see the downside of him in practice... that being, when the heat is on during a real game, he doesn't commit the way he should. He rarely gets decent separation and if he does, he won't extend himself to make the difficult catch.

I don't know. If there's any weak link in the above lineup, I'd have to say it's McCareins, so I agree with you here.

He got hurt when Rhodes body slammed him. He attempted to stand and then collapsed again, holding his knee.

I really hope he's okay because he was having a good camp (at least on Tuesday he looked very good).

Thanks Koz. I don't get to watch enough Jets ball out here in NE, I hadn't remembered seeing much of him, but last year was a disaster anyhow. Hopefully he can step in and make something happen. As much as I loved Chrebet, his last couple of years were rolling downhill.

I think McCareins might be in Mangini's dog house, and that Cotchery's got a solid chance to win the #2 job. If Ridgeway hadn't gotten hurt, or isn't hurt too seriously, we could go with 6 recievers.

I wont be surprised if we end up with 6 receivers, with either Ridgeway or Newhouse making the team as a sixth guy. Newhouse in particular seems to have gotten the coaches attention. But you get down to the bottom of the depth chart, and whether or not you make the team usually ends up being decided by how much you can contribute to special teams, so really a guy like Newhouse would be competing with drew coleman or andre maddox for a roster spot.

I wouldn't mind seeing that. Cotchery definetly deserves a shot. He's been playing well in camp for the last 2 seasons now, and has shown he can be a dependable player.

I'm really disappointed in McCareins. He hasn't shown that breakaway speed he had back in Tennessee, and his hands are just horrible. He dogged plays last season, and now he shows up to camp out of shape? He's awfully pushing it. I don't think Mangini will give him a break like Herm would if he can't get his act together.
