I did not really follow the jets as deeply then as I do now so Im wondering if the reaction to him being appointed head coach was as glowing as super bowles has been. it seems everyone in the media is gushing over him right now and applauding the jets on the signing. even respected members of football media who are not normally extra complementary seem to be in approval.

I am myself happy with the signing since I'am of the mindset that most ex-head coaches are ex-head coaches for a reason and a successful coordinator/ college coach was the way to go, and im also happy the jets will keep their toughness on D that we were accustomed to seeing with rex.

And he basically played a recording of that press conference in with a Bills hat on at his latest introduction.

The media was positive when Rex was hired (the common wisdom being that he would have got a job a year earlier but his weight scared owners away because they want a guy who looks like Mitt Romney as the face of their franchise) and that he was either the best (or second best, after Belichick) defensive mind in the game.

The NY media was giddy about his appointment because the guy had very solid results/pedigree, but more so because it was obvious right from that first press conference that he was going to make their lives multiple times easier during his tenure.

I was cautiously optimistic and the media was mostly positive.

If he wins a Superbowl over there one day its gonna be brutal to watch and it will haunt the franchise for a very long time.Revis is now a Patriot,Rex is coach of the Bills,Mr.T is VP of Football Ops for the Dolphins,Nothing like stability

Negative? There isn't another division in Football where the former Head Coach,Best Player in Franchise History, and former GM all now work for three diffrent divison rival teams. What does that tell you about this franchise?I was listening to Jon Mara on Francesa today and couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if the Jets had a owner that belived in continuity and not reacting to the fan base at the end of every season

We'd be watching Herm Edwards and Paul Hackett play run-run-pass-punt for the past decade.

The media was thrilled Mangini was gone. They really missed Herm.

the media was receptive of rex for sure...but it was more hype and quotes than anything. The Bowles hire is being applauded from a football perspective.

The Rex hiring was liked by the media because of all the sound bites, but there was also a lot of skepticism and criticism of his ability to be a HC. I have not heard a single negative thing about Bowles

Don't your worry your little head about Mr. Fullofsh*t winning a Super Bowl in his lifetime.
Amazing how someone can go from a lousy HC for years and then go to a new team with the same line of bullsh*t.
