I know Brian came from the Chargers as a qb coach, but i feel like it's highly possible that Brian will be rebuilding this team in the image of another former employer the Rams. I expect us to get at least 2 speedy wr's in this draft. I would also expect 4 picks to be offensive linemen. The remaining four picks will probably be cornerbacks and de/ olb hybrids. Opinions? Speculations?

From what I've heard it's a combination of the Run-N-Shoot and the Wishbone. They are calling it the Run-N-Bone.

i dont see two speedy wr's for one thing...the offense is probably still TBA due to the fact that we dont if penny leinart ramsey or young will be our qb

I know there will be a lot of down the field throwing. Schottenheimer said that when he was first hired. As far as a complete scheme, and other things, we'll have to wait and see.

I wouldn't expect those 'two speedy receivers' to be obtained on Day One of the draft. Tim Dwight is probably our guy to lengthen the field, but Coles is no slouch either. Before his toe injury, he had quite a set of wheels on him. McCareins was supposedly another 'playmaker', but that's still to be determined. I don't think WR is that high of a priority in rebuilding the offense, but taking a project burner in the later rounds wouldn't be such a bad idea either.

What about Cotchery? Does anyone know his 40 time. From what I've seen, he can be a downfield threat.

Jerricho Cotchery is really more like Laveranues Coles lite.

Sorta like how Lenny Kravitz is Jimi Hendrix lite.

I don't know about his 40 time, but I don't think he was considered as a burner back in college. It seems his game emulates that of Chrebet's, as in working the field as a possession receiver, not providing a vertical threat.

I dont see the Jets defining what kind of offense we are going to play for the next couple years. I think we need to obtain too many replacements (most importantly for Martin) to be able to say much of anything. New additions (hopefully Leinart and Maroney/White/Williams) will define our offense for us.

Heimerdinger's offense was supposed to be alot of deep passing and we all saw how that ended up.

If I had my way the Jets would run Rich Rodriguez's spread offense (but we all have seen how college offenses do at the pro level. i.e. Steve Suprrier's Fun & Gun)

well, Schottenheimer loved those intermediate routes - 12 yard posts, 15 yard flags, seams with the TE, gut running and passes in the flats. I think we'll get some slants and stuff in there, too. If you ask me, everything but the flags and outs and ins are a good match for our players.

I think almost all the NFL teams use some variation of the spread now on occasion. I see it coming sooner or later as a featured offense mainly because you don't need a huge, athletic offensive line to move the football. There just aren't enough of those big guys to go around.
