after hebroke through the d line i did not expect him to get through the safety.after he got through the safety with AUTHORITY,, ididn't expect him to be abl to outrun the entire d... i wonder if the colts will be as willing to stack the box with 8 knowing that he can break through their smallish sfaeties and break a long 1 for a td?
I'm not surprised by his speed. I watched his college highlights and he showed a burst like that. The pros is obviously much tougher but he has the rare power/speed combination. He's no Chris Johnson but he has really good speed. I'm shocked how someone like him could slip to the 3rd round.
speed was very surprising. Reminds me of when Lamont Jordan would come in and be lights out. How did this guy slip past every team in the draft...twice?!?!?!? Maybe people got scared of the fact he was 25 years old.
I've been trying to find that out as well, his hands/passing skills are questionable and he's not a good blocker(although he is improving a LOT, he had a key block in that Sanchez TD). He is 24, so slightly older then most rookies, after that I see no reason why, injury prone? That still at worst shouldn't drop him to the 3rd round, I'd rather have him then Beanie Wells, Donald Brown, and Knowshon Moreno. (although I really like Donald Brown)
Well, he is a very solid runner, but the knocks on him in the scouting reports that I remember were that he was kicked off the Iowa squad for a year because of his grades, he only had one full season in NCAA as a starter, and he was kind of one-dimensional, having never really had to catch a lot of balls out of the backfield or stay in to block in the backfield.
RE: Shonn Greene Shonn spent what would have been his junior year moving furnature for a local furnature company and taking classes at a local CC to get his grades back up so he could return to Iowa, then spent only one season as the starter here. The kid has a heart that matches his size as evidenced by the lengths he went to get back on the field. I'm loving watching Greene tote the rock the last few weeks. Ask any Iowa fan and they'll tell you they saw this coming. Shonn is an animal. When Shonn signed with the Jets I became an INSTANT Jets fan. At first, I was wishing Favre had stayed in NY because he's my fav all time football player and I started watching the Jets regular last year and I LOVE the way they play. But now I think Sanchez is better long term for the Jets - maybe short term too although Bret had a great year in Minnie. BTW, I saw the reference to Knowshawn Moreno earlier. The running inside joke all of that year while ESPN was hyping Moreno was that Knowshawn Moreno might have been good, but he was "No Shonn Greene". Tough to cheer against former Hawks Dallas Clark and Bob Sanders next week - was hoping to see Greene and Bob Sanders collide someday on the field. Looks like that will have to wait a year. Still, gotta back my boy, Shonn. Dallas and Bob already have their rings. It's time for Shonn to get his!
Iowa Hawkeye fan here. Glad to see Greene doing so well for you guys. I speak for a good number of Hawk fans when I say we've been rooting for the Jets this season. Anyway, I thought you all might enjoy some similar hits Greene made at Iowa last year: (Maybe someone could repost these images since I can't post links yet...) Eric Weddle of the Chargers, meet Frank Duong of the Boilermakers...
I also like how the OP edited his post before finally posting it. after hebroke through the d line i did not expect him to get through the safety.after he got through the safety with AUTHORITY,, ididn't expect him to be abl to outrun the entire d... i wonder if the colts will be as willing to stack the box with 8 knowing that he can break through their smallish sfaeties and break a long 1 for a td? Yep, upon second glance, perfect. Time to hit the post button again.
It means he's now the leading rusher in the Post-season and he is demonstrating feature-back abilities.
