what the fuck is wrong with you all? its the 2nd PRESEASON game this year, and already we've got "cut vernon gholston," "sanchez sucks," "sanchez has a weak arm," blah blah blah. did you all forget that Mark Sanchez is a ROOKIE whose first NFL start was opposing the RAVENS STARTING DEFENSE?

i know the extent of the darksiders on this board and in the jets fanbase on the whole, but halfway through the preseason? unbelievable.

i can't wait until mark sanchez, rex ryan and the rest of the jets prove all you assholes wrong. :jets:

Good thing you cleared that up. The last thing we need is an internet message board with people who are wrong.

This is typical NYJ fan behavior and it shouldn't surprise anybody.

Dude, stop being a homer. First of all, nobody is saying Sanchez sucks. Surprisingly enough, most of the comments on Sanchez are neutral at worst and positive at best. Where are you getting all this Sanchez sucks talk? Secondly, this is Gholston's SECOND fucking year here, and it isn't like he was some middling 2nd round or even middle first round pick. The dude was our 6th overall pick last year and plays like an undrafted rookie. I think people have a right to be pissed at him for a) not performing and even worse b) not showing much any sign of improving, considering what he cost us.

    One example:
I understand your point about Gholston, but for crying out loud, its the preseason! Writing anyone off over meaningless stats is ludicrous.

I Agree with you man but not on Gholston, He did absolutely nothing last year and now he needs to prove atleast that he has a pulse and he has done shit once again. He needs to do something or i dont know how we will survive with him starting for Pace for 4 games.

I love how people also overreact over one half of one preseason game. But on the other hand, they took the 1 series by Sanchez the week before like it was a full season of work.

Relax guys, 2 INTs put us in a bad spot, it happens.

Sanchez will be just fine, but Gholston does suck!

Actually, if you didn't watch the game and just looked at the stats we were great.

    - Lost only because we went for a 2-point conversion

    - Out rushed them by a wide margin

    - held both of their QBs to less then a 50% completion rate

    - had 4 sacks to their 1

    - our special teams were far better

Without those two picks we looked great.

Being that it's preseason you can also consider things like the fact that it was a GOOD thing that Sanchez got a start, got a lot of reps against a GREAT defense, did it on Monday Night Football, and got his ass kicked a little bit.

Sanchez wasn't going anywhere with a Hello Kitty challenge all season, getting his ass kicked early was probably the best thing for him so he can settle down and focus going forward.

I thought it was fine. its the 2d preseason game and as expected both qbs struggled a bit but also there were some nice things that happened that can be built on.

I didn't realize the Ravens only got one sack. That is pretty impressive considering how good the Ravens' D is and how we were missing Woody and Mangold did not play much

I think the overreaction in large part is coming from those reacting to the reaction. Mississippi Jet was being sarcastic. Sanchez looked as good as could be expected considering his OLine wasn't intact AND he was going up against a fully manned Raven's defense that has made Veteran QB's look like children. Clemens on the other hand looked like a deer in the head lights and always seemed rushed.
Ainge outplayed both of them but that's really not the issue here is it. For all of you Ghost fans out there, exactly how many years are you willing to give Vern before cutting his useless ass. If its the contract, I get that but you call just quit the "he'll develope oneday" bullshit cause it appears he's more suited to be a legbreaker for a bookie than a DE. The man has still show zero when it comes to just having good football instincts and that's something you can't teach. He reminds me of the pretty girl with the slammin body that is lousy in the bedroom. Looks hot, is not..

You can't cut him. He is the 6th pick and a lot of money. You don't give up on the guy after 1 season and 2 preseason games. you'd look like a fool if you cut him, he goes somewhere else and terrorizes in his 3/4th year. Make no mistake though, i think he looks like a UFA (Westerman looked better last night).

IMO, your analogy is flawed. I'd bang the hot chick in a heart beat over a shovel face that's good in bed. Like pizza, no matter how bad it is, it's still good and the chick will always be hot. The ugly lass....not so much.

Actually, there's been times where I've been to the "she doesn't have to be good or look good, she just has to be there" school of seduction.

I get it about the contract like I said. If after 16 games you're still waiting to see a flash of greatness, exactly when does that end? Why not just dump his azz on ST's and leave him there until he gets it or his contract runs out. We do have guys that play that position better for a lot less cash.

Now honestly, do you REALLY expect The Vern to go somewhere else and lite it up in his 3rd or 4th year? Didn't happen with DRob did it. At least we saw flashes with Vilma but from Vern? Nada..

True....both those picks were close to their own goal line to boot. We gave them 14 points. The one real problem for me was watching Flacco carve up our secondary. I know who was out there but that still has to be a bit of a concern.

Flacco definetly had fun against our vaunted secondary. I'm hoping our pass rush gets better but I also noticed Flacco easily outdistancing our guys when he had to scramble.

Last night was a real good barometer as to where we really are relative to the elite of the league. We're not quite ready yet folks so be patient. Not Homers, just patient. Ryan might need another year or two..

Flacco was 8-18. Not exactly, "carving it up". The secondary allowed a few big plays. One being that 45 yard bomb to Mason. Other than that, pretty pedestrian for Flacco.
