What the Chargers are looking for is going to most probably be a 1st and a 3rd round pick in april. If thats the case I say no deal. But the dilemma is that we now NEED another back.

Again, I highly doubt the Chargers will actually want a 1st and a 3rd.

I think they just want more control of the situation with Turner.

    According to Randy Lang today:

"Turner, who has played for three years in the very large shadow of LaDainian Tomlinson, the NFL's MVP last season, on Wednesday received the highest qualifying offer possible when San Diego, in advance of Friday's 12:01 a.m. start of free agency, tendered him at $2.35 million. That means any team that wants to sign Turner to an offer sheet would have to give up first- and third-round picks."

I think he's one of the more talented backs in the league, even if he is only a backup right now. So, I guess I do think whatever we give up for him, he'll be worth it.

    Question:

How exactly can he get rid of the idea that he can't take the load of a full time RB?

Wouldn't have have to...GET the load of a full time RB?

How does he do that behind the best RB in the league?

The question with Turner is not phyiscal ability. Thats why I don't get why it's such a big deal. To me it'd be just like drafting a RB, except he's way more NFL ready.

    Such as Leon.....

No way I trade our first and third for Turner. People need to realize that his is running behind one of the better lines in football and an awesome fullback, and his success is boosted by teams not preparing or game planning for him. If he comes to the Jets he will have both of those elements to deal with. It is not a guarantee that he will be a success as a full time RB. I would trade no more than our lower 2nd.

And it is not the same as drafting someone with the pick. He will command a much larger salary than a rookie would in the same pick.

With the releases of Barlow and Blaylock we do have to get another RB, I would prefer to look for someone in the third fourth round, and boulster our line and FB (might have already if Pociask is healthy)

Do you honestly think that anyone is going to have to pay that price for him?

Most of the talk for Turner has been a trade for him, which would no doubt cost less than a first and a third.

If this team ever gave up a first and third I'd make it a point to find Woody's car and take a nice, steaming dump on the hood....

The other point to this is at $2.35 , its alot for a back-up RB , so if it looks like they are going to have to keep him maybe we could get him with just our first , which is tempting.

I don't think anyone will give a 1 & 3 for him. I also don't think SD wants to pay him $2.35M. I think SD would have had better luck with just a 1st round tender. I think the only way he will leave SD is in the form of a trade. The question is do we have anything on the roster interest SD and that we are willing to part with.

Obviously no one is going to give that up, and SD knows it. They're either trying to increase his trade value or aren't interested in trading him.

I think they just want to keep him one more year. It does not hurt to have 2 good RB's on a team. If the Jets trade anything more than a 3rd rounder for him, I'll be dissappointed. I'd rather we stay away entirely.

thats the tender, that isn't the price...personally anything more than our 2nd 2nd round pick is too much in my mind
