Kerry Rhodes kept his cool this season while fans and media clamored to see him execute his signature super-athletic turnovers. He answered the call today in the Jets' 47-3 rout of the St. Louis Rams with one fumble recovery, a tipped pass that led to a Hank Poteat interception, and an interception of his own ? his first of the season. ?Oh, man, it felt like I had a fat gorilla-ape on my back and everybody kept making it a bigger deal each and every week,? said Rhodes. ?The fact that I was able to get it today was a good thing for us. It helped us get a win today, so that?s the main thing. read more.............
he was making plays when the ball was thrown near him. He saved a TD against the Bills. They just don't throw to his side or Revis' this year, so it limits Rhodes' chances.
When I watch Rhodes with the ball in his hands I wonder if he should have been playing offense all along. None of our current WRs have his size speed combo or look as good in the open field.
I'm fine with him playing D, but you're right, his ball skills are on par with a second or third wideout, at least.
Whats funny is that if you watch the post game show, they asked him about the "gorilla on his back"...Ray Lucas was making fun of him, saying "it looked like you had a silverback gorilla on your back when you picked off that ball." It was pretty funny, because he clearly lost his balance after making two moves down the sidelines. But I think this past game put #25 back in the running to go to Hawaii. But if there is such a thing, he has become a "shut down" safety. You rarely see and deep balls going his way, and most of what comes to him is because of a crossing route. I don't think anyone has beaten him deep all year with a go route down the field?
no one has pulled a double move to beat him on a deep ball this year. I can't even remember the last deep ball completed on this team for 40+ yrds. And the secondary is bad right?? ha, the yards they give up are only because team pass twice as much as they run on this team.
