Well, as the draft gets closer, and the combine has closed, what would you like to see, as a Jets fan, in the draft? I know the poll is a bit flawed because you may have to trade up to get one of these guys, but the draft boards and mock drafts have so many different opinions because of opinion. The trade up option just ensures that you get the guy you want; so, if you vote trade up, post who you'd like at the new spot.

Trade down and take Vernon Davis. I know, I know - we have too many needs blah blah blah. In the course of this rebuilding we will need a new QB. Even if Chad bounces back, I am sure that he is no longer the future of the franchise. A bonafide playmaker at TE will make whichever young gunslinger we get life's alot easier. My ideal situation is:

trade down pick up an extra 2nd rounder
    draft Vernon Davis
with our 2 2nds draft best OL(Mangold, Max-Jean) avail and best QB avail(Croyle or Whitehurst)
with the rest of our picks keep on filling out the OLine and take advantage of any BPA's that slip.

With the above scenario we would be well on our way to rebuilding.

I posted this in another thread...

Since it looks like were keeping Chad Id like to go with RB this year. And what better way to address RB than to trade up for the best RB prospect ever to come out of college. Sure, we have other holes...but thats what rounds 2-7 are for :)

    1st round- Jay Cutler
    2nd round- Marcus McNeil
3rd round- Dominique Byrd (I really like this guy. He seems like a good TE who can create some YAC. Would be a good weapon for Cutler)

If we trade Abe for a pick...assuming it's a late first or early second I would draft Bobby Carpenter

I like Vernon Davis, in fact, I LOVE Vernon Davis. But I think value wise, we might be better off taking Mercedes Lewis in the 2nd round. Or Leonard Pope. There are even rumors Lewis might drop to the 3rd :eek:hmy:

My #1 choice would be to trade down. Maybe even more than once. Stockpile picks.

I agree here, barring something totally unforseen like Bush or Leinart falling to #4 this is the way to go IMO.

I would trade down pick up and pick OL in the first or maybe even Vernon Davis and in the second or third pick up an Qb im starting to get big on Tavarius Jackson and Ingle Martin right now so we might be able to draft one of them during the 4th round

trade down from #4 to #10 and get 2nd rounder (~#42).. draft lendale white with #4.. then in 2nd round draft max jean-giles with #36 pick.. draft nick mangold with #42 pick.. in the third round we could take a RT (someone like whitworth or trueblood... a real road grader)

we shouldn't draft a QB because we cant afford it with the CP situation.. also, it would just be a stop gap QB regardless if pennington comes back or not.. since we are gonna take penningtons cap hit this year, we should draft a QB next year... we cannot afford to draft a QB at #4 and def shouldnt trade up.. that would be retarded.. instead of getting 3 players we need considering the players are either old or gone (RB, LG, C) we get 1?? that would be terrible for the franchise personnel-wise and cap-wise..
we will be able to afford a QB next year.. we should use the pick we get from trading abraham and combine it with our next year's #1 and trade up to get brady quinn.. he is already use to a NFL-style offense with charlie weis in ND.. this would give us a the youth movement we need in order to get this franchise ready to compete in the next couple of years...

im going to write a letter to the jets front office... who knows if they will get it but at least i tried.. that would mean in 2 years this would be our Offense

    QB- quinn
    RB- white
    FB- askew
    WR- coles
    WR- mccariens/cotchery
TE- (jolley, baker, possible lewis, byrd)
    LT- jones
    LG- giles
    C- mangold
    RG- moore
RT (whitworth, trueblood or someone in the 2007 draft)

pretty sick turnaround from our old and injured offensive unit from last year... what do u all think??

Actually, thats more or less what Ive been advocating for a while. Address QB next year, and RB and OL this year. But ever since I heard the rumor about the #1 pick Ive been hoping we could trade up and draft probably the best college prospect of all time. But if thats not possible, then we might wanna trade down and go with another RB. Only problem I have with the scenario is that I believe Leonard Pope and/or Mercedes Lewis will fall to the 2nd round, and with the hole we have at the position, those are two players we cant pass up. So Id go, say, RB, TE, then OL then on, with a 3-4 OLB and 3-4 DE here and there

the draft is kinda strange really good teams on the cusp of a playoff run trade up to hopefully get the missing piece of the cog , but a team like the jets should trade down to add depth.
