Please note, I am creating this thread really to just get a gauge on how Jets fans view God. If you'd like to elaborate on your beliefs, feel free, but please do not use this thread to bash other people's beliefs. This is more about the philosophy of god himself, than of particular religions. This is really to satisfy my curiosity, please don't be overly concerned by the labels, focus more on the definition. I meant to include polytheism in the nontraditional theist category, FYI, just forget to add it. This includes Hinduism and other pagan belief systems.

Personally I fall in the agnostic atheist category, but kind of follow Native American spirituality (not dogmatically really more about meditation techniques).

I believe that if there is a god, he really likes kicking Jets fans in the nuts.

Gotta be honest I was gonna close the thread as I felt it would get ugly but seems liek your intent isn't for it to get that way. Let's hope our fellow posters respect each others beliefs.

Don't believe in God. Spent many years trying to justify my belief, but I am a prove it kind of guy. Grew up Catholic and have decided it is not for me at the moment.

I was born a nun on roller skates aka- a roamin' catholic but it never took. I truly believe all the major organized religions to be quite dangerous, enslaving and detrimental. Christianity/Catholicism is a Pagan Sunworship Cupcake with Roman fairy tale frosting on top. I do not doubt there is some kind of creator, but humans are still very far off from getting to the bottom of it all. keeps life pretty interesting and filled with mystery.

I have to agree here. I think religion really destroys people. Countless wars and countless battles caused by it.

While I am a practicing Roman Catholic I don't allow it to influence my political beliefs. I've always felt that we are too big to allow religious policies dictate specific laws. Too many wars and people killed in the name of religion

I can't discount the idea based on established theory of creation: the big bang. A random act or a conscious decision? To know that would be to know what came before (or what is on the other side, depending upon which variation of the theory you subscribe; white holes, membranes colliding, etc.)

Our universe exploded into being, but we will never know what lit the fuse, so to speak. I'm cool with that.

I went to Catlick schools for 12 years and even attended St. John's for a short while, but it never took. I can't buy all this shit about purgatory, cardinal sins, confession etc. They're just rules made up by someone in power to control the masses. As I've gotten older I've started to believe there is a higher power, tho I can't define it and I don't think anyone can.

Organized religions are a different thing; they are just like political parties, exclusionary to the extreme and convinced their way is the only way, even when the differences are minor. Develop your own beliefs through inner examination; don't be brainwashed or have it beaten into you (as many Catholics like me have experienced).

raised as Catholic, but only attend mass when a family member takes me along; I haven't chosen to go to mass since maybe my first year of living on my own. i personally feel there is an absent higher power that set forth in motion the universe

i always could laugh at George Carlin's rants about religion without taking offense to what was taught to me first by Catholic sunday school

I don't know. Simple as that. I feel like that is the only honest answer you can give. I seriously doubt the major religion take on things and what god is/isn't.

That said, I pray every now and then but I pray to whatever higher power that may be and I do so more to clear my head and try to get a better sense of where I want to go in life.

I think that if there is a god/gods they don't "need" us to worship them other than doing our best not to harm what they have created...as in other people or the environment. But that is just my human mind guessing lol

It bugs me when people have convinced themselves they are certain about whatever religion they follow. I don't tend to argue with people like this so I won't do it here but I do think it is silly.

    Good thread.

And the thing is, I am not going to pray to reptilians or any superior species.

    Not gonna happen.

Pretty much this, however I haven't "practiced" in a very long while. Lost a little bit of my faith a while back.

Funniest comment I've heard about the subject: Religion is like an argument about who has the best imaginary friends.

But where did they come from?

I didn't include aliens on my list, because they wouldn't technically be gods or deities. Belief in human creation by an advanced alien race, still doesn't begin to answer the ultimate question about god and pre-big bang universe.

Yes they are, they are deities. But honestly if you look into the Annunaki, it makes a lot more sense than any of the religions we have today. They come from a planet called Nibiru, they created us to work in the mines, to mine gold. (That is why Gold has been so highly valued throughout human history despite technically not serving any purpose other than looking pretty.) The thing about this though, is the Annunaki said they would be back, and thats a problem, because I AM NOT under any circumstances going to be a slave for anyone. Not gonna happen.

I'm a spiritual person, but not religious. I believe in God, but not in organized religion. Its up to every person to find their own relationship with God or none at all if that's what they so choose. That's why we have "free will". This from a former altar boy no less. :D
