After having around 600 passing yards in the first two games, the offense's explosiveness has really died down and I think the main reason why is that the cs is no longer spreading the field and instead is sending two men out and keeping the TE and HB in to block. I realize that Pennington hasn't been sacked as much as he was in the first couple weeks but we've really lost a ton of our productivity. One of our biggest strengths is that we have five decent recievers but it's worthless when only two or three are lining up each play, especially when Dwight is inexplicably always one of them. Cotchery is worthless when he has more then one guy on him which always happens when he's one of only two targets. I know that the cs is afraid of getting Pennington hurt but I don't see how they can be so afraid of it that change the way the offense is run.
same here...but my team sucks this year anyway b.c it got autopicked...but i really expect the jets to open it back up soon...
We have played some better pass rushing D's of late, too, and we are still struggling with the running game.
a) we have a horrible inexperienced line. Brick has done a nice job, but most LT's need help against Seymour, Freeney and Jason Taylor. So they have been leaving someone in to chip those guys. Anthony Clement and Brandon Moore are not starting caliber players. b) Because we have to leave 6 or 7 in to block that only leaves 3 or 4 recievers. If your a D-coordination, you play cover 2 on coles and cotch and take them out of the game. If Baker stays in to block and we send out coles, cotch and a rb it's gonna be tough to throw the ball. c) Since we have no ability to run the ball defenses know that the key to beating us not giving up big passing plays. d) The fact that we have passed the ball well in all but one game really does say something for the coaching staff and Pennington. I think going forward this passing attack could be very good.
The offensive line is still developing and Leon hasnt learnt to block properly. We will see more risky playcalling when Shotty develops aswell
