http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/index.cfm?section=7&screen=news&news_id=50985 It looks like Henry is the odd man out, and I dont know why. I remember when he played for the Bills and he killed us all the time, He gets tough yards and is a really good RB, I wouldnt mind if the Jets traded a 3rd rounder for him. what do you think?
I don't like the idea. Henry wreaked havoc against us every time we faced him, but that was then and this is now. We've already got an older, veteran RB in Martin who is still as servicable as Henry would be. Save the 3rd rounder for next year.
3rd rounder??!?!!? no way!... The Titans got him for a 4th rounder a couple years ago when he wasnt too bad. Why trade a 3rd rounder for him when its possible he'll be cut anyway. We could just wait for him to be cut.
If it was cheap I would support the idea. Bring him in for a 1 year contract maybe...but that would surely mean setting back Blaylock and Houston as the carries would go to Henry and Martin. I think Blaylock can be a really good back for us. He si really fast and shifty just not all that big....so for me its hard to say whenther I would like to bring in Henry or not.
The titans got him for a 3rd rounder, and i believe the jets shouldnt waste their 3rd on him obviously, but he is younger then martin and blaylock just sucks.
I will not respond to this comment because I dont want anyone to think that I am picking on them........hmy:
When I read this thread, I expected to laugh it off and say no, but Martin's argument is convincing me otherwise...
Okay, in a semi-serious attempt to answer this hypothetical question, here are my reason why: (1) We already have Martin. What do we do with him? Bench him? (2) We're not in serious SB or Playoff mode this year, so what would be the point? Taking Henry is going to change anything? We need to build for '07 and beyond, not grab short-term talent for SB contention this year. (3) Giving up a 3rd Rounder is unacceptable to me, given the above. But even if we didn't have to spend the 3rd Rounder, he'd still command a pretty healthy salary even if he were to be cut. Getting into a bidding war with other teams who need him now is not where this team is. (4) Besides, I'd rather save the money and the Cap room for other positions. (5) We already have two serious backups/alternates in Blaylock and Houston, both of whom have not had enough serious time to demonstrate their talents and who both need carries in order to be properly evaluated. Signing and using Henry actually hinders this evaluation and sets us back in terms of evaluating any other future youngsters to fill the position, i.e., Washington. (6) He won't come "cheap" in any event, therefore this question is moot. (7) I'm not into animal husbandry.
