I know preseason is not the end all of what our depth chart will be but what happened with Joe? Do you think because we are short on the receiver end they were using him in the slot for the night or is he the WC running back so they're holding him until later? I feel like he's shown improvement and we could of used some of his zipp in the back field last night. Did he really slip to #3 on the depth chart?
I guess Pilal is the guy but I was really hoping McKnight would come into his own this season. He plays well and is a great change up rb.
Never been a McKnight fan. I know the most overused word in the NFL is "consistency," but this guy really is the textbook definition of inconsistent. Are you getting the burner or the bust on the next play? It's a coin flip every time.
McKnight is looking kind of shaky on the field as are many of the players on that side of the ball. He's another of these guys where if he could be a complement to something that was running really well he'd be an asset. As it is his errors are contributing to the general shakiness. The Jets have built this offense to fail and unless something changes that is what it is most likely to do. The Jets have used their top pick on the defensive side of the ball in 5 of the last 6 years. That has an effect over time and the effect on the Jets is that the one guy they've picked up high on offense, Mark Sanchez, doesn't have enough talent around him to succeed. The defense looks great but given that they've spent the top pick in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and now 2012 there what else would you expect? It's choices the Jets are making and while I firmly support their desire to establish the team's identity on the defensive side of the ball that effort is destroying the offense and a decent young QB alongside it.
I know he likes to put the ball on the ground. Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
Drafting for defense is fine. Its when those 2nd round offensive "projects" don't pan out that is a real kick in the cajones. Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
Also have soured on Mcknight. Just not tough enough for me. Doesn't it seem as though he fumbles every week? I would cut/trade him for nothing.
KnKnight has no football sense. Last night alone he runs into punter costing the Jets 3 points and then he runs out the kickoff from the -9 yardline resulting in the Jets getting the ball at their 7 yard line. I saw one more bonehead play from him hat I can't remember. He is a bonehead that does more damage than good.
How is everyone ready to sell out on McKnight? It's a new season and he finished the first preseason game with 66 yards from scrimmage -- 34 receiving, 32 rushing. He was the best offensive player on the field last week. Now this week he puts up another 60 plus yards on returns and you want to cut him? You guys are crazy.
I think you're talking about White. Last night, McKnight 2 returns for 68 yards and a long of 46. Shit, cut the kid, right?!?!
I don't understand why they don't use the guy on more running plays. I'd rather see McKnight on a sweep on third down than John Connor up the gut.
Nah McKnight did have one that he shouldn't have taken out, I think he made it to the 13 though. But I agree with you. If nothing else he has potential as a KR but I've still got hope for him to be a decent back.
Not sure how I feel about him as a key RB but I think he could develop into a great return specialist. If he wasn't such a fumbler on the offense I'd put him (or Pilal) ahead of Greene in a heartbeat.
Don't know when everyone went south on McKnight but... 1) He is a good returner. 2) He is a good special teamer. 3) He can play some slot receiver in a pinch. 4) He can participate in a Wildcat offense. 5) He can take a few carries in a pinch. (Hey, he can even blitz on defense) So all that to me is enough to keep a young, fast guy around. I mean really, its not like he is the starting RB here. He is a role player and he can play some roles.
