We just saw the Jets win a very tough battle against a good, maybe great, Dolphins team. One game at a time, obviously, but what single factor is most important for getting the Jets we saw against the Dolphins to the type of team that we can start thinking is one of the best in the league? (poll to come . . . )
How about a more consistent pass rush so we don't have to blitz all the time. The Offensive Line has also fallen off some from last year. Hopefully, Slauson will settle in and Woody won't decline too much. I don't see any team in the league this year without holes. It's all about who's healthy and playing their best football in January.
I actually selected luck ... can't go wrong with having good luck, considering luck and chance plays into players either getting injured, once everyone comes back, we need to stay healthy, everything else will be in place
Pace. The pass rush is going to need a boost against strong OLs like Miami. It'll make the DBs look better considering Henne did have all day to throw. Taylor is doing well but I don't like the fact that he's playing every down. He's much more useful as a pass rush specialist. Once the QBs are pressured again, this defense will embarrass people.
Went with Holmes' arrival. Can't even imagine a defense trying to stop Holmes, Edwards, Cotch, Keller and LT out of the backfield.
Very close between Revis and Holmes (With Pace being a distant 3rd), IMO. At the end of the day though, Revis is our best player and he takes our defense to the next level. Thus, I went with Revis being healthy.
Revis Pace Holmes (Or the return of our key players (if it needs to be one single factor (which it does as you posted the question and said that)).
Our pass rush really needs to improve. Last year we survived without Pace and without Jenkins, but not at the same time, so I'm guessing that's what's doing them in. As good as our d was last year, they had trouble pressuring the QB unless they blitzed and so far this year the pass rush looks completely inept. Getting Pace back will help a lot. I voted Revis but Pace is a close second.
I don't know what more we could have asked of Sanchez in the last two games, but I still picked him. It was the case last year and probably still is this year - we live and die by how well he does.
I voted for Revis being healthy but I can't wait to see our pass rush when Pace is back in the line up, not to mention the passing game when Santonio finally steps on the field.
Everything to a certain extent but I'm going to go with Revis being healthy. We'll be back in the elite category once he's ready to go without any lingering issues.
