Do we reach for a safety in round 1 or 2? I've seen most mocks that have us taking LBers (Beal, and that kid from Purdue that I can't remember his name at the moment) in the early rounds, but it definitely seems like we need a playmaking safety now above all. I would not object to reaching for a guy if we think he's the guy we need even if he's not good value. Just be sure that you get him.

I've always had (and still do) FS as my #1 priority. It was my #1 last year as well.

I think the best way to go would be FS in the first, followed by multiple pass rushers (Kerrigan, someone else), a fast ILB (Spence?), and some DL depth.

I don't think we'll reach for one...but could definitely still end up getting one.

D-line, replace other old guys, perhaps pick up a player who unexpectedly falls to us that is too good to pass up. Comments from an admitted armchair coach. :)

Unless you're incredibly lucky with your picks from round four on, you're probably only going to get two guys who contribute a lot early, tops (your first and the second or third, whichever pick we didn't trade for Comartie). Kerrigan will be long gone by the time the Jets pick in the first, let alone the second or third.

Depending on who we resign I'd go defensive linemen in the first, safety in the second/third.

we need a pass rusher Leonhard's injury does very little to change that. When we blitz and can't get there, we leave our safeties on an island with someone they can't cover. The better the pass rush the better our safeties seem.

also there isn't really a safety worth drafting in the 1st. if we could get a stud it would be a different story.

You don't reach for a position when the position is in a weaker year.

    Front 7, Front 7, Front 7

The Jets will be drafting in late Rd 1 and to predict who will be available now, or even on draft day is crazy. We have to wait for the board to come to us and then make the BPA pick within our needs, or trade down for more picks.

When I see the word "reach" I cringe, and hope that's never part of our draft plan. So far Tanny doesn't seem to be that type of GM.

I'm certain we will address the safety position in either Free Agency or the Draft.

I mentioned this earlier, there is really no value for a Safety, so far, in Round 1.

Round 2 will have an excellent choice of almost a half dozen very good players.

I like the idea of possibly trading out of rd 1, depending on who's available, and get some extra picks.

having a fast, athletic, sure-tackling, big-play making safety really would make for a lot of improvement...not sure if this is the right year to pick one though

I'm not sure there's even any Free Safety worth getting in the first round... I say we still go for a pass-rusher

I agree, with everything you say. I think we need to be patient and figure out the pieces as the draft unfolds
