Do you guys think Thomas will play ROLB? Do you guys think it will might look like this ROLB Thomas, Barton, Vilma, ROLB Hobson? What do you guys think the Linebacker core will look like?
I have been saying all along that Vilma would be great at OLB in a 3-4, he is a great pass rusher, if the team puts Vilma to the more open feild side everytime i feel he can still use his read and react skills, which have made him one of the best MLBs in the league now. I would love to see a linebacker core like: Thomas, Barton, Kassell, Vilma with Hobson and Shlegal give breathers often to Barton and Kassell and Brown and Chattmen giving breathers to Thomas and Vilma just about every other 2 downs for a play or two. This way everyone stays fresh and they start their best players, using their skills to the most of their abilities, with the OLBs using their pass rushing skills, and the MLbs using their strength and agressivness to stuff the middle.
I think Vilma is going to play inside outside and you might even see him at strong safety on occassion.
I think mostly a lot of blood and guts, just like any other person's core. Ok, ok: Thomas, Vilma, Schlegel, Hobson Barton is the odd man out because he's a little unpredictable with his temper and freelancing - I don't think Mangini is going to approve of that
What about Ahmad Brooks? If I were the Jets I'd really look into this player and find out if he is really a bad guy or if his past mistakes were just dumb college kid stuff. He does have great talent. The Jets could give up their 2007 2nd round pick to get this guy in the July supplemental draft.
