Looking at the list of recent articles on the forum homepage, I saw that there were two reports on Ron Jaworski's recent ranking of NFL QBs, in which Geno came in 30th. Reading them both, there were two very different quotes, supposedly from the same article.

Dom Cosentino of NJ.com quoted Jaws like this:
Rich Cimini at espn.go.com had it like this:
Maybe I'm just looking for something to talk about, but these seem like two very different interpretations. 'Rock-solid' is a far stronger endorsement than 'much more polished'.

I'm not going to pay to read the full article, though, so how much do I really care? And wasn't Jaws high on Kellen Clemens before he was drafted?

I don't know why people care what the media says about any player. It there opinion and they are allowed to have it. They do get paid for it

Why do we care? Because Jaws looked at the game tape of Geno Smith and analyzed it. If he saw Geno improve every week that's very encouraging news to a Jets fan.

It's definitely encouraging to hear that Geno was learning during the season. Supposedly his footwork is much better now, and I read an article that said he had to mentally count the steps last year, whereas now it's automatic. I'm sure that that's going to help him concentrate on making his reads. His fake handoffs also look a lot better in the last few weeks of the season compared to the first few, where they wouldn't fool anyone. That's also encouraging. Hopefully whatever he's been doing in the offseason will pay off, along with the new guys we brought in on offense.

Decker/Nelson/Kerley and Amaro, with CJ or Ivory in the backfield is nothing to laugh at.

But if he says something bad about Geno or any other Jet most people on here say he doesn't know what he talking about. It just his opinion so it doesn't mean shit to me.

I just found it strange that two writers quoting the same article came up with such different quotes... then I read the Cimini article more fully and realised that his quote came from an interview Jaws gave about the piece. Nothing more to see here...

Serious question, why are you on this site? Not trying to provoke anything just curious.

Didn't Jaws also say this about Clemens?

I guess there is a little difference since he is saying this about Smith after seeing him play in the pros as opposed to college but still needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Who cares what Jaws says, he had Schaub as a top 10 QB last summer. The guy lost all credibility after that.

Jaws also thought Kellen Clemens was going to be a star.

Got better every single week? What are these guys smoking? Yes, he looked good at the end of the season, but 3/4 of the season he did not improve every single week.

He was definitely a lot worse than El Nacho in his rookie campaign.

Both had similar number of picks - just, Nacho had picks clustered in a handful games (3, I believe) while Geno had them picks spread out all season long.

What this means is, when Nacho was bad, he was obscenely bad - that was in 3 games or so. He was more than okay in other 13 games, and Jets won 9 of them. Geno? He did finish the last four games in an upswing, but before that streak, he was 5-7. Got better every week? What the hell is he smoking? Remember, out of that 5-game wins, 3 of them were gifts. It was the other team fucking it up - TB fucking it up, and NE fucking it up, etc etc - that directly resulted in Jets win. [Or are you Genomes telling me that, since Geno didn't fuck up the game beyond redemption, he improved? WTF?]

I sometimes wonder just how much focus these league wide analysts bring to articles on individual teams. Obviously Jaworski said some things that are not accurate. Just yesterday Bayless said in that clip on NE and the Jets that Kyle Wilson will replace Cromartie at CB. Really???

Because if you don't care what the media says about any player or the Jets in general I would think there would be no need for you to come here.
It wouldn't make much sense for you to not care what the media has to say but for you to care what anonymous posters on a website have to say.

When a media person has a opinion on a player we can't bring our opinion into the talks like we can here. I never said I don't read what they say just don't care and get upset like a lot do on here.

Namath says there's nothing special about Geno. Namath must be writing for ESPN now.

We're really picking hairs here about quotes that, seem to me, aren't that much different. Both were positive, so what?

First go to ESPN site & somewhere on it U will find what Jaws had to say about GS bu really what is the difference since neither GS or MV is in the elite status of QB which as you can see Jaws put GS 30 out of 32 & JWN dissed him completely
