I could honestly see the argument either way. Have to imagine if the Jets really love JJ as much as some reports indicate, he'd be a no-brainer at 10 if he's there. I would prefer a WR but I'm not sure that's the direction the Jets go.

    Bingo!

Or Hutch at 4 and WR/CB at 10.

As much as I want Hutch, I just can't buy all this smoke around him falling to 4.

But make no mistake, there is a ton of smoke that he might be there when we're on the clock.

EDIT: And before someone dismisses this guy as some random guy who did a mock draft, he's had the most accurate mock drafts over the last 3 years.

We need all the help we can get so being smart about the draft is important.

I think the biggest thing is to find some hapless chumps that want to trade up for players they fall in love with and take them to the cleaners.

Getting picks, future picks, and players while taking advantage of the depth in this draft would help us fill out our roster.

Maximizing the value of the picks that we do use instead of trying to fill holes would also help us fill the talent gap between the Jets and the serious playoff contenders.

I would be very happy if JD could pull of my latest run on the PFF Draft Simulator

    12 Ahmad Gardner CB Cincinnati
20 Jermaine Johnson EDGE Florida State
    26 Devin Lloyd LB Utah
    33 Tyler Linderbaum OC Iowa
    40 Devonte Wyatt DT Georgia
    48 Lewis Cine S Georgia
    71 Leo Chenal LB Wisconsin
    148 Marcus Jones CB Houston

I think there is a scenario in which the Jets could get Ekwonu at 4 and Jermaine Johnson or Kayvon Thibodeaux at 10, and it's not that farfetched.

    Walker/Hutch
    Hutch/Walker
    Stingley/Gardner
    Ekwonu

The Jets would need another CB, QB, and WR (Only 2 out of these 3) to go along with Neal and Cross. That puts KT and JJ available for Seattle and 9, leaving the leftover for the Jets at 10.

I think you're right, Ickey and JJ is not farfetched at all. The problem is that's a bad first round.

Because you don't believe Icky fits a need, which is fine and we'll just agree to disagree here.

I think in that scenario, the Jets would either be trading for Deebo or packaging 35 +38 to move up to the teens to get Williams or Burks.

I put this in another thread, but this one is a bit more active.

One way or another, I like the OL/DL combo at 4 and 10. Then a trade up for a WR (whomever that may be). You can then trade back from 35 or 38 to get back a third rounder so you dont lose any darts.

The Becton/Fant combination is strong when everything is going well, but I don't see Becton staying healthy and Fant having a year as good as he did last year. Penciling Ickey in at LT and having Becton and Fant to battle for starting RT would probably result in the best possible OL.

DE is obvious, and has been for years. Get someone across from Lawson and start getting after the QB for a change. I consider this the biggest need on the team.

I'm sure the Jets have a better idea about Thibs falling, but if they could get Ickey at 4, Thibs at 10, and trade to like 20-22 to get Olave/London/Burks, I'd consider that an excellent draft.

Thibodeaux has been on the outs with the professional draft leakers for awhile. That probably means he's going top 3 and everybody has been blowing smoke his way to get him to fall farther.

We shouldn't be listening to the guys quoting professional sources. Those sources are always lying if they're affiliated with a team and sometimes even when they're not.

Didn't want to start a new thread on this so I figured I'd throw it in here.

What would everyone think about trading back with the Texans from 10 to 13?

Obviously depends on the return but if we can net another 2nd/3rd, I'd be down.

Most realistic return would be 10 (1300 points) for 13 (1150) & 68 (250). Slight overpay by the Texans but that's part of trading up.

Fuck that, I'd trade back from 4 to 13 if we are staring down the barrel of Ickey, Sauce or JJ.

In an attempt to connect dots/follow betting trends, this is one of the things.

    1. They draft Ickey with the intention of moving up for Sauce/Stingley
    2. They want to leapfrog some teams for their top choice at WR

Last chance for me to post on this thread, so here's my dream:

    Jets Trade
    -- Mekhi Becton
    -- Mike White
    -- Jets 2022 First Round (4)
    -- Jets 2022 Third Round (69)

    Seahawks Trade:
    -- Seattle 2022 First Round (9)
    -- Seattle 2022 Second Round (41)
    -- Seattle 2023 First Round (?)

Supposedly Seattle wants to move up (for what reason, I have no clue). And I don't know how he does it, but JD makes great trades with them. The Jets appear to be done with Becton and have little use for White, whereas Seattle needs a LT (haven't re-signed Brown) and any QB. This trade lets them move up and get two pieces for the price of their second 2023 first rounder and moving out of the 2022 second and into the third. The Jets shed a couple players, maintain the same number of picks in the top 100, and get a 2023 first rounder. Everyone's happy.

Wouldn't Seattle likely be trading up to get one of the top 3 tackles?

Also, while the value makes sense, unless you REALLY like Penning, by trading Becton and pick 4, you're almost certainly replacing Becton with the 4th best OT prospect.

It would probably be #13+#80. If we're flipping#13 for Deebo it makes perfect sense, as that's market price.

I think Houston wants to nab an OT (Ickey) and CB (Stingley). If Walker-Hutch-Ickey go in the first 3(worst case scenario) we probably nab Sauce based on Twitter speculation.

Here's what I posted in the Draft thread as my Final 2022 Mock:

    #4 - Ikem Ekonwu, OT/G
    #10 - Jermaine Johnson, DE
    #35 - Jahan Dotson, WR
    #38 - Daxton Hill, S/CB
    #69 -Troy Anderson, LB
    #111 - Jerome Ford, RB
    #117 - Alex Lindstrom, C
    #146 - Tyquan Thornton, WR
    #163 - Damarri Mathis, CB

    We'll see what happens.

For those like me, thinking Ickey at 4 and Edge at 10, this would be a very good thing.

So we're on the #4 and the guys we really wanted are not there. The draft went KT, Hutch, Ekonwu.

The Texans offer 13,37 and 107 to move up.

    Do we bite?

Make it 80 instead of 107, and it's a deal.
