I know our offense is a joke, but this upcoming draft should be focused on one thing - getting to the QB. our OLine isn't as bad as everyone says it is. it could use work, but it's most definitely not a terrible line. Sanchez will be our QB for next year, and I'm not really interested in any of the QBs coming out. as for the running back position, why don't we try and make a trade with the Saints for Mark Ingram? they don't use him, I think he's the 3rd back on their depth chart. our pass rush has been abysmal this year, and last year especially our linebacker corps. Bart Scott, Bryan Thomas and maybe Calvin Pace are on the way out. we need to use this draft to get playmakers who can get after the QB. I'm thinking our first 3 picks should all be defense. 4/5, we can draft a linemen and maybe a TE (in case we don't resign Keller). what do you guys think? how would you draft our team next year?
I'd draft heavily on the offensive side of the ball. The Jets have needs at QB, RT, G, WR, RB, TE, basically everywhere but C and LT at this point. I'd try to get a pass rushing OLB or DE also. I'd probably trade down in the first to get an extra pick in the second, especially if the Jets are in the top 10 picks.
this is something I would love to do. especially if guys like Te'o, Jones, Moore and Werrner are off the board.
I'd love some Oline help and a Back with better vision for the offense. The D is going to need a ton of linebackers and perhaps a safety. If Arron Murry is around in the Second Draft him as a QB of the future. This years receiving crop is below the last couple of years and I don't really want us to reach on a guy depsite the need.
Offense actually has decent depth but severely lacks playmakers.Additionally the OL run blocking leads alot to be desired. Problem is...this draft class lacks any real game changers on that side of the ball outside of the OL position. Meanwhile..the defense is real close to being solidified. The glaring need remains explosion on the edges. Jets need 2 OLB'S. They need an athlete who can get the edge weakside & create a legit pass rush, & they need a strong sider who is a speed upgrade that can set the edge & contribute to the pass rush. If there is a game changer OLB at the Jets original pick..they have to pounce..they can't afford to go another year w/o addressing that need. However...if the value/player isn't there...I trade down & take the best Olinemen/OLB available. That's the most effective strategy given this class & the Jets current needs. If we can't get better at the skill positions..let's improve our ability at the point of attack.
in the first 3 picks i want a road grader for the ol. an all purpose rb with home run speed and a rush lb. give me the bpa at those positions and i will be happy
Honestly, this draft shouldnt be focused on just ONE thing. We have so many holes that we just can not afford to do that. I honestly think its a horrible idea to spend the 1st three picks on defense and if we did, there would be a riot from Jets fans. Tanny (assuming he's still here) would not be able to explain why we didnt address such an abysmal offense. If there's a new GM, I think theres zero chance he doesnt address this shitty offense in the first 3 rounds. Last year, the Coples pick was meant to be about getting to the QB, so was the Mo Wilk and even the Kenrick Ellis pick. Theres no way this team could justify 3 early picks on defense. Its one thing if we are just talking about picking an elite OLB in the first, which Im totally okay with. But thats as far as I go on defense. This team needs playmakers BIGTIME. You look at our skills position... actually, just calling it a skills position is embarrassing. We have Jeremy Kerley and thats it as far as Im concerned. If I were GM, I would try my best to address OLB, OL and RB at first. If you can get someone like Mike Glennon in a trade up scenario in the 2nd, I pull the trigger. If we draft in the 10-16 range and miss out on the elite OLB's, I look to OL with Warmack or one of the Texas A&M tackles. I would also LOVE if we traded back (which I had done in my mock draft) because as I stated before, this team has a ton of needs.
There may not be the elite talent like Trent, Luck, RG3, Julio Jones, AJ Green, CJ Spiller, ect... But there are some very good players who I can see being gamechangers in the NFL- Gio Bernard, Jawan Jamison, Terrance Williams, Tavon Austin and maybe even Kenjon Barner.
Jones, Te'O, or trade down and take Mathews/Warmack. Id probably be pissed with any other outcome. If we stay put and take Mingo, I'm literally going to kill somebody.
To be quite honest I think the texans would be willing to trade Ben tate away fro a 3rd rounder, if so I'm all in as a replacement for the ineffective Greene
I don't see that. Tate is a very good back up and foster has missed time in the past couple of years. The depth is important to them.
the Texans are a smart organization in that they will trade away players who are replaceable. They traded away Ryans because he was replaceable as is Tate with Foster getting the majority of the carries and Forsett in many respects out preforming Tate. Furthermore, this is Tate's last season with the Texans as he wouldn't resign with them to remain a back up when there is the potential to be a starter elsewhere. Recognizing this I wouldn't be surprised if he was traded because of these factors, for the right price of course (I feel a very early 3rd rounder would be an acceptable value)
Would it be so crazy just to stand pat and take the BPA in this draft? Our team has some definite gaps -- definitely at OLB -- but it seems like we might be able to get there with some changes to the coaching staff (and a QB that is mentally committed to winning).
At this point, I'm looking OLB. Defense is the strength of the draft and I'm not crazy about any skill people. Give me Jones, Moore, Wingo, Montgomery, or Werner.
I want two twin pass rushers, a mauling guard and a QB Jarvis Jones and Ezekial Ansah will make me cry tears of joy Larry Warford and Mike Glennon will make me write a sonnet you dont get a ton of talent in the draft but if you can add 4 impact players in 1 draft thats a success. We'd have to move up for 2 of these guys but I think its worth it, quality>quantity
Not when you need about 10 starters within the next two years. Thats the kind of shit that got us into this mess.
If drafting in the top 10 and Jones is gone, trade down for at least 1 2nd, and maybe a 2nd and a third if T'eo is still on the board when we draft. (use T'eo as leverage for one of the lower drafting teams to get a 2nd and a third). ILB is not a real need, and while I realize that T'eo is a special player we need to go a different way. Just my opinion. 1st round. Take the highest that is still available of Warmack, Okafor, or Erick Fisher. first second round pick Take one of the following, I really don't have a specific preference. Chase Thomas, Shayne Skov, Jonathan Cooper (probably gone in teh first) Larry Warford, Dallas Thomas. 2nd second round take my developmental QB Tyler Bray 1st third Runnning back pick, take best of Stephen Taylor, Mike Gillislee, Christine Michael, Montee Ball, pretty much in that order of preference. 2nd third (assuming can get a 2nd and third) WR Best of Ryan Swope (probably gone), Cordarrell Paterson, Da'rick rogers, Steadman Bailey, Jordon Matthews, pretty much in that order of preference. 4th round Really depends on who's on the board still and if we had an additional third round pick if no additonal third round then move the second third down to here and append to the beginnig of the talent pool. If any of Bacarri Rambo, Zeke Mota or DJ Swearinger on the board take them, if not take Mister Cobble or Abry Jones if either are still on the board. 5th round hopeful drops Mister Cobble, Maruis Wilson, best avail, possibly Lutzenkirchen. 6th round BPA 7th round if someone falls like Burfict did last year, take a flyer on them no risk, high potential reward.
I completely disagree. We can't continue to neglect the offense. Ideally we should trade down, go OL, RB, then OLB. IDC what really happens after that lol
