Statement from George M. Steinbrenner http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news...ent_id=1835202&vkey=pr_nyy&fext=.jsp&c_id=nyy I know a lot of other teams do alot for the community but it seems like the Yankees always go the extra mile ...
If he was classy, he wouldn't have to put it out in the papers that he is helping the families. This press release makes it look like George is doing it just so people could have the same reaction you just had.
Good point. In the famous "Eight Degrees of Charity" by Maimonides, the fourth level is "Giving charity before being asked" (I'll assume that no one asked the Yankees or George for help; giving charity after being asked is the third level). The sixth level (two levels higher) is giving anonymously to a known recipient. (The two highest forms are giving anonymously to an unknown recipient, and giving a poor person work.)
Should we voice them louder? That way you could still hear us, even with your head so far up your own ass?
Whats the problem... you know that some ass at every organization puts shit like this in the papers all the time. It's virtually impossible for a sports team like the Yankees or Mets to do something like this on the D/L. So while all Met fans just hate on the yankees with our heads up our ass, the deed itself goes un-noticed or shrugged off by some smug detractors who think it's done just for a tidbit. Reguardless of what some might think, it is a great act of kindness, in someones time of need. More people should put up or shut up Ellis Added in good fun ... By the way winners with thier heads in the clouds, or ass from the loosers POV, always hear the loosers complaining about us
It's just another small opportunity for the Yankees to overshadow the Mets, and that is what upsets them. They should be used to it by now,but complaining is all they have.
Funny how pathetic it is to see people still have to bash the Yankees while doing something like this.
Funny how pathetic it is that Yankees fans are incapable of seeing that no one would have even brought this up if not for the insatiable need of Yankees fans to congratulate themselves for somehow happening to be fans of the team.
1st and foremost Steinbrenner has said numerous times that he doesn't like when his contributions to charity, military, or anything else is reported by the media.
And again I will say that George has said he doesn't like it when his contributions become a story. Relax 117.
Then what he says and what his organization does appear to be in direct conflict. Uh? Fuck you, or something?
Its one thing to start a thread with the title saying something like "Steinbrenner gives back to the community" or something, its another to be pompus assholes like most Yankees fans are and start the thread with the title being, "What a classy organization". If the organization had class they wouldnt try to pat themselves on the back releasing a statement drawing attention to how great they think they are.
And i'm not disagreeing with you on that. But the one that he disliked the most, was he sent a group of Military members to a Tampa Bay Lightning game and it got reported. He'd like it more if it wasn't so talked about and printed up. Sure a classy person when it comes to communities, charities, what have you, but it doesn't need to be blown out by people. Chill out, a little joking doesn't hurt.
