If Zach turns in a Geno Smith level (or worse) rookie season should he be the undisputed starter in 22’? I can’t imagine Saleh will want to put up with this for a second consecutive season.
...yeah let's quit on the rookie QB we drafted #2 overall and gave $30 million+ Think about this a little before creating this thread, come on
It's not impossible to think that we'd possibly move on from Wilson although it's very very unlikely. But he'd have to be nearly historically bad and lost for us to do so. We're talking about 35-40 interceptions bad, which I don't think we'll see because I imagine they're going to move to running the ball more and protecting him from himself.
This isn't Geno Smith. You invest in #2 overall and give 3 years to figure it out, unless they completely flame out
He’s getting 3 years unless he’s like truly Ryan Leaf/Jamarcus Russell/Matt Leinart bad even going into Year 2. Honestly that’s what I’d do. JD, Saleh and Wilson get 3 years to turn this shit around then another restart if they still suck.
Don’t much care for these negative “what if?” topics. We always have enough actual negative things to discuss. No need to fantasize new ones.
No player at any position should ever be declared the undisputed starter; each guy needs to earn his spot by his performance on the field.
I don’t think it’s a fantasy. I’m hoping for the best, but ZW has been worse than expected (to say the least) after five games.
There is no other alternative game plan. It's the Jets intention to ride out the storm good or bad. The Jets are MARRIED to Zach Wilson....
Well, I don't it's specifically nuts if the Jets had at least signed a veteran in case Zach needed to sit? Sometimes a young QB needs to sit and observe. Now I'm not critical of the Jets for not having done that, but if they had I wouldn't have been critical either....
