DeGuglielmo has given a shining ringing glaring endorsement for WFH. I'm confused. It's pretty much been acknowledged by anyone in the business that he was a turnstyle last season.

    Couple quotes that stuck out:

"I see many, many more great things, and I see the upside, I see the movement skills, the explosiveness. Those are the things I see on film"

"You'd have to ask (former OL coach) Bill Callahan. I think he's in the directory in Dallas." ( on why Hunter Struggled last season )

"until they ship him out of this building or until they shoot me dead in my office, that sonofagun is going to be the starting right tackle"

Is this legit? Or more Jets bravado? I was really hoping Ducasse was going to beat him out this TC,.. Guess only time will tell but this is a strange occurrence for a new guy to the team fully endorsing one of the weakest links.

Jets bravado plus positive thought plus no legitimate replacement plus they must like the guy or perhaps on film he was doing what the coaches wanted and is overly criticized. Or not. Any number of things. You talk up the guy you have in the fold if you don't have a viable replacement.

If saving face was the object here, Shouldn't he be talking up Ducasse? This really doesn't make any sense to me unless this guy is legitimately see's something the rest of the world doesn't.

    My favorite:

Comparing the Jets offensive lines of 2009 and 2010 to this year's incarnation: "I'm not going to compare them to what they did two years ago. Two years ago, I was 230 pounds. Now, I'm 290. So, you could say, 'Hey, Gug used to look good in that suit.' But right now I can't put one leg into it. It doesn't matter what I was like two years ago. ... I fluctuate 60 here, 60 there. It's like peeing in a pool. Nobody knows the difference."

    Also:

    • Hunter's physique: "They (should) strap shields to this guy and put him in The Coliseum."

    • Vlad Ducasse, spending time at right tackle during the offseason: "This isn't a bust."

    • Stepping into the shoes of well-respected O-line coach Bill Callahan: "The difference between me and Bill is I have a Super Bowl ring (Super Bowl XLII) and he doesn't. I'm not worried about the ghosts of Bill Callahan."

Gush seems to be the popular word lately. Gushing over Hunter, Tebow, Sparano, Rex's weight loss, you name it. I bet Revis is not gushing about his contract though. LOL

Well, that guy just heaped a bunch of extra weight on his and Hunter's shoulders.

I like it. Any coach can say they like the guy they have at a position, but DeGuglielmo also discussed several specific strengths he sees in Hunter. I don't think he's saying these things to make us feel better because he wanted Hunter in Miami when he was there as well. We'll just have to wait for September.

The guy comes off like a disrespectful blowhard.
He prob feels like his bs is what Rex wants out of
Him. Let's face it tanny has neglected to upgrade
the obvious lack of depth on the oline and rt where
    We have a scrub.

Talk doesn't get it done. I was hoping we turned a page
And were humbled but I must have been high...

At least we now know where Rex's belly fat went.

Maybe its like that 80's horror film The Hand and Rex's gut is taking over his mind?

I remember Callahan last season saying WFH was a great physical specimen. I think he went so far as to say he was one of the most impressive linemen he'd ever worked with.

    Then the season started...

You guys thought you had OL problems last year, just wait until you see what Sparano and DeGuglielmo do.

Right, Miami's issues were all the head coach and O line's fault. Nothing to do with an inept GM providing a barren roster.
