Round 1) our own pick 7 Armand Membou OT/G Missouri 6-4 332. Guy is flying up draft charts. Posted combine numbers that only two offensive linemen had in the past: Tristan Wirfs and Trent Williams. Membou was tremendous with a 4.91 40, a 1.74 10-yard split, a 34-inch vertical AND 31 bench. I envision him playing RT next to AVT. And then if we don’t resign AVT, - we have flexibility to move Membou inside to G or keep him at RT. Might be worth it at 7 overall. I see Dion Dawkins similarity. Round 2) our own pick 42 Elic Ayomanor WR Stanford 6-2 206 Posted 2 solid yrs at Stanford & then great #s at the combine 4.44 40. In addition to O-line protection for Fields, - we need another WR (I can’t believe Lazard is still on the roster). Highlight reel catch in 2023 vs Colorado & their star Travis Hunter. I might regret passing up on Darius Alexander DT from Toledo ---- time will tell. Round 3) #74. our own pick was sent to Las Vegas for Davante Adams. What garbage. Round 3) Detroit’s pick 92 CJ West DT Indiana 6-2 317 Posted some great measurements despite weighing in at 316 pounds. He was able to break the five-second mark with a 4.95. He also had a 1.73 10-yard split. He was able to record a 33-inch vertical as well. Would be a BIG help next to Quinnen Williams. Round 4) our own pick 109 Danny Stutsman ILB Oklahoma 6-3 240. Would be excellent value pick here. Reminds me of the Steelers grabbing Payton Wilson NC State at 98 2024 draft & then watch him ball out for Pittsburgh. Stutsman is a tackling machine. Perfect 4th round pick – but will likely go earlier (3/16/2025). Sherwood is signed longer term but could be Quincy William’s last year. Round 5) our own pick 145 Kyle McCord QB Syracuse 6-3 220 Why not? So desperate to get anything going at QB. NJ native. Maybe he turns into a Gardner Minshew. I think this guy could turn into a very serviceable pro. Couldn’t be worse than spending the #2 overall pick on Zach Wilson. Did well at Ohio State in 2023 but then really lit it up 2024 at Syracuse with less support (granted inferior competition). The challenge for NYJ is finding someone who can develop either McCord or Jordan Travis. Round 5) Pittsburgh 158 Tyler Batty DE BYU 6-5 273 Making a secondary pick here only because I am trying desperately to get a replacement for Michael Clemons. He was only playing because Jermaine Johnson got hurt. Normally I say keep a guy for his final rookie year contract because the $$s make sense & we don’t have roster luxury this year or next, --- but I’m just sick of this guy & I can’t stand the sight of him in a NYJ uniform any longer. He gets blocked out of every play in 1 on 1s by TEs. Not to mention the scuffles & fights & stupid penalties drive me nuts. 4th rounds of draft & later are our chances to find the Maxx Crosbys + Matt Milanos of the league. Round 6) our own pick 186 Hunter Wohler S Wisconsin 6-2 213 Have to try to find capable backups and/or special teams players. Led the team in tackles past 2 seasons. Round 6) TB 196 (Believe it or not, --- this is from the Denzel Mims TB/Detroit trade years ago.) Connor Colby OG Iowa 6-5 308 Can’t go wrong with Iowa guards. Need to build depth here with John Simpson contact up after 2025 (but I’d emphasize re-signing him) & in case we let AVT go after 2025. Colby has played/started for 4yrs at Iowa making All Big Ten teams at some level each year. Watching the Buffalo Bills constantly employ an extra lineman on running downs. Round 6) KC 208 (KC’s pick from the Mecole Hardman trade) Jason Marshall, Jr. CB Florida 6-0 198 3yr starter at CB. 5 star prospect coming out of HS. Could be a victim of the unsettled coaching staff at UF. 7) no pick ---- went to KC in the Mecole Hardman trade
What worry's me more is them picking a development QB, having a bad season and a high pick and then not choosing a QB from a stronger class next year because they already got their development piece, in both your choice and Travis. (though he looks unlikely atm in time)
I’m in for all of this. I don’t know much about the Stanford kid but I like the idea of grabbing a second round receiver along with Membou and then beefing the defense up the rest of the draft.
