I long for the days of Windows XP. It was simple, a bunch of stuff was free. Ughhhhh, in between came Vista, what an abomination. It was loaded with bloatware, it was so bad.
Fck Bill Gates. Here's the other thing. You used to be able to just stick a DVD in your laptop in the CD/DVD slot and watch a movie. Those days are gone. Now you have to pay to watch a movie that you own to watch it by buying some crap driver. It's false advertising and this POS should be fined into the ground. I hope that his semi-disinherited kids put a pillow over his face.
This is the one where they try very unsuccessfully to steal Apple users while simultaneously alienating Windows users.
Windows has always been terrible. The only reason to ever run it was to play games online. Mac has always been the far superior platform for the average user, business, etc etc. Linux is there for people who are broke or are super nerd programmers.
Mine is a work reason, I have a Mac for my personal stuff. Great for rendering but after navigating the maze of Windows my whole career it's kind of like using a child's toy.
I've gone to iPadOS completely for personal stuff. I use the Magic Keyboard for iPad which is a case and a keyboard all-in-one. https://www.amazon.com/Apple-Magic-Keyboard-iPad-Pro-12-9-inch/dp/B09322LR1R/ You wouldn't want to be doing anything mouse-intensive on it but it can easily handle basic word processing & emails etc. Plus it's an amazing device to read on which I do a lot of. It's just a much more intuitive OS for the basic user's home needs. I also have a YoutubeTV subscription on it for NFL RedZone & NBA League Pass if I'm on the go. Love that thing. I also use a MacBook Pro for work and I have an Alienware desktop rig for gaming.
I used to be a Windows admin... Somehow at my current job I've become the Mac admin... But I've been a gamer forever so I've used windows since I was young. I've barely used 11 yet since for me there's no reason, but yes initial impressions it's trying to be more like OSX. I would say 7 is my favorite and I really don't mind 10.. for the most part most admin features from 7 are in 10 just not front and center in settings. Maybe because I know windows hot keys in applications better I prefer windows day to day... But Mac is much better in terms of using a terminal.
Lest we forget, you also had a bunch of free games on old versions of Windows. Shrunken Heads, the Bubbles game; and you could not only listen to CDs (music) and watch DVDs that you owned, you could burn music CDs. Fck Bill Gates. Again.
Now they offer ClipChamp. Just realized it was installed with the upgrade. Not sure if it's worth a crap but I have Premiere Pro already so bye-bye ClipChamp.
