I watched this game at work yesterday with a mentally retarded Raiders fan. He really sunk into me the whole game. "Da Raiduhs aw gonna scow, Dannay! Dey gonna go wight dow da fiel' an scow, Dannay!" It was excruciating. Definitely one of the most painful losses in recent history. But don't think the season is sunk. Typically, 10-6 isn't enough to clinch a wild-card berth in the recently superior AFC. This year is different, though. The NFC is the dominant conference this year. The NFC has 9 teams over .500 compared to the AFC's 5 (4 if Denver wins tonight, which I believe is likely). Is this our year to win the division? Possibly not. But don't give up on the playoffs. We're missing them right now, but only because of tie-breakers. We'll get there.
I love hoping on the last day of the season that we can sneak into the final wildcard spot and then get eliminated in the first round.....badass
We Jets fans will be fine. We'll get over this loss and care again next week, like we always do. And when we barely miss the playoffs or lose a playoff game because of some ridiculous mistake or uber-conservative play-calling, we'll be pissed off for a while and get over that and care again next season. Yeah, we Jets fans will be just fine. The 2008 Jets? No, they're fucked.
This team does not have more than 5 wins remaining in them, they'll be no better than 8-8. Let's just be realistic here: Titans: We will get killed Buffalo (2): Much better team, we'll get killed Miami: We should win, it's at home KC: Should win, especially with their starting QB going down New England: toss up, let's give the Jets the win for sake of argument Seattle: Should win, but then again, should have beat the Raiders St. Louis: I don't like how good they look, let's say Jets squeak it out Denver: Loss, running and passing game combo too much for Jets "defense" San Francisco: Toss up
Your optimism is refreshing, unfortunately people don?t take this team for what it really is. No better than 7-9 or 8-8 and with another loss like yesterday, probably 6-10. Playoffs??? Not this team.
