The Jets have signed TE Anthony Firkser and released FB Nick Bawden. Firkser (6-2, 246) first signed with the Green & White in 2017 as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard. He most recently played with the Lions and appeared in two games last season. His first game action came with the Titans in 2018 and played for Tennessee through the '21 season. Firkser, who went to Manalapan High School in New Jersey, had 106 catches, 1,107 yards and 5 touchdowns in 58 games (3 starts) for the Titans. He then had a stint with the Falcons in the 2022 season where he played 11 games. He's taken 1,273 career snaps on offense and 411 on special teams. Bawden (6-2, 245), who signed a reserve/future deal with the team in January, was activated off the physically unable to perform list Monday. He first joined the Jets in 2021 and missed all of the 2022 season. He's played in 25 games (3 starts) for the Green & White and has taken 184 snaps on offense and 465 on special teams.
Nice to see Firkser is still around. I knew his parents, very nice people. His old brother Josh played basketball with one of my boys.
Good question! I have no idea. They may be thinking of keeping 4 TEs and using Firkser and Ruckert as the FB, and Conklin/Yeboah more as receivers.
Wanted Firkser when he came out, didn’t end up sticking with us and now he’s back. Must be for a reason~
