Call me a homer. I know is way too early but, I'm pumped about my rookie class, and is hard for me not to believe that once again the Jets will have one of their own nominated rookie of the week. Only question is who will get the honor. Sauce or Hall. Can anyone remember the last time we could root for at least three rookies to be in the running for this year's categories for rookie of the year? Go Jets
I can't think of any time that we've had so many excellent young players. My personal opinion is that while Sauce had a good game, Hall had a great game, and he is the one who should get the rookie of the week award. I'm afraid that a lot of Jets fans will split their vote or vote only for Sauce, and then neither will win the award this week.
Rookie of the week: Jets running back Breece Hall. The Jets tailback had 197 yards from scrimmage, with 97 rushing and 100 receiving, in a 40-17 win over the Dolphins. He also scored a touchdown. It was a breakout game for the second-round tailback, who has 275 rushing yards, 213 receiving yards, and three total touchdowns for the season. Other finalists: Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner (interception, forced safety with intentional grounding call), Texans running back Dameon Pierce (99 rushing yards, one touchdown), Seahawks running back Ken Walker III (88 rushing yards, one touchdown), Texans cornerback Derek Stingley (one interception), Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe (17-21, 188 yards, one touchdown, one interception).
Some rookie power ranking thing has Sauce rated first: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...eammate-breece-hall-cracks-top-15/ar-AA12QJLz
I'm well aware that this is a fan vote and Jets Twitter is rabid, but it's highly conceivable that each of our rookies that have won were absolutely the correct choice. This rookie class is THAT good. Franchise-altering type of class.
I’m very bullish on the rookies. Amazing to think that in five weeks we won three with three different guys
First of all, I'm confused. Budjet announced earlier in the thread that Hall had won the rookie of the week award. Was that not a result and rather a projection on Budjet's part? I'm glad a Jet won it, but if Sauce won imo this is wrong. There's no way that Sauce had a better, more impactful game than Hall.
I agree. Seemed like Jets fans wanted to make sure Sauce got one since Breece got his last week though. I have a good feeling this won't be a last time this season that one or more of our rookies is up for this award.
I think this could be a historically great rookie class. It could easily rival or even beat the 4-first round picks from 2000.
That definitely could be. I think another possible explanation is that for many younger Jets fans, Sauce is their favorite player so they would have voted for him regardless.
Douglas's first draft was really bad but the last two have been great. Actually 2021 was very good and 2022 was phenomenal. Hard to give JD shit if you are level headed.
It's the past two drafts! A pretty amazing stat, especially in Jetslandistan... read... (From thejetspress.com) https://thejetpress.com/posts/ny-jets-dominate-rookie-week-sauce-gardner .
I think Hall will be in consideration for offensive rookie of the year with a solid chance to win it. Sauce will also be in consideration for defensive rookie of the year and will totally deserve it imo. His challenge with winning it is only due to not being in a stats based position. Good corners like good Oline don’t have much in the way of attention getting stats. His impact to the D will totally outweigh any stats tho. Devin Lloyd is also making a great case to win DROY.
Thanks to the last two drafts and FA pickups the Jets now have talent in the top half of the league. That's a long way from the bottom fifth where they were. They lack experience especially at the most important positions. They are ahead of schedule for sure but growth and injuries will determine if they arrive a year early. Enjoy the ride!
