Jets | Team signs Chatham Mon, 13 Mar 2006 18:19:28 -0800 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports the New York Jets have signed free agent LB Matt Chatham (Patriots) to a three-year contract. No financial terms were disclosed, but the contract was described by agent Paul Sheehy as a "hybrid" in which Chatham, who had four career starts in six seasons with New England, can cash in if he wins a starting LB job in head coach Eric Mangini's defense.
funny thing is he can out-throw noodle arm, and he plays lb! maybe the incentives are based on how many snaps he takes.......
Hey, he may not be Lavar Arrington, but there is so much good in signing a player like this: -He has played for Mangini/a winning franchise -He is a versatile player who can play special teams/provide depth/push for a starting job -Most people probably don't care about this signing, so any production he gets will come as a bonus to us. -He probably won't cost that much. -He has experience in the 3-4. Solid first signing by Tannenbaum...
Nothing against your post, but people were singing the same praise for the Legree signing last year too
Sure I can. Mike Vrabel. Vrabel's a great linebacker. What does that have to do with a special teams player like Chatham who left NE because Belichick told him he just plain isn't talented enough to play linebacker on a regular basis? He won't be missed in Foxboro.
Isn't he 29 years old? It's a good signing, but even if he plays well next year he will already be in his thirties... I still like the signing...I just whish he was younger.
Right, but he will be 29 before the year starts...I am not worried about his age because I doubt he will be starting after this year.
