I have been ranting about needing a TE on this team that can help our QB's, especially KC. A young QB needs a safety blanket TE who can help him out. I dont care what you say about Chris Baker, he is in the bottom third of TE's in the league. The other TE's on this team suck the big one. Tangini, get us a stud TE please. Dammit.

That is my point. Didn't Schott Jr. have a stud TE in San Diego? Didn't he throw him the ball all the time? What was his name......oh yea, ANTONIO GATES!!!!!!!!

Maybe if you did care you would notice that hes a good TE who blocks well and catches. What else do you want him to do? Scale tall buildings???

KC first of all needs a O-Line!

baker?s a very solid TE, definitly not bottom third, more top third!

when our O-Line is fixed, our QB situation is clear, our D can stop the run, we find a big NT, we can rush the passer and fix some other things, then we can worrie about a big play TE, but till all this happens, i?m pretty happy, we got baker!

Baker's good, how often do you see him drop a pass when one's actually thrown to him? It's just that our WRs got a lot of looks with Pennington since they ran shorter routes usually designed for TEs. With Coles & Cotch now being able to stretch the field with KC, expect Baker to get more looks on shorter routes. Just because he doesn't have good "fantasy" stats doesn't mean he's not a good player.

Dude, do you even watch the games. Baker is exactly what KC needs. He is mister clutch, catching everything thrown his way. He may not always get the separation that other elite TEs get, but I'll trade that off for his blocking ability. His ratings and stats, which is where you presumably get your ranking of his value, will increase as he is released on patterns due to better OL play.

You already made the best possible argument for him...Kellen Clemens. What he needs is a TE that can keep his ass vertical, and be able to catch the clutch pass when called upon. That describes Chris Baker to a T.

Call me a fanboy, but I think Chris Baker is the most underutilized talent on this team. He did have a drop last week, but it seems like every time we look to this guy in the clutch, he comes up with the big catch. Tiptoe back of the endzone catches, catches that actually were actually forceouts in Cleveland...

But we never look to him! Seems to always be on the shitlist.

I can’t believe someone is asking for a tight end? Chris baker is an excellent Receiver with great hands. The only time he seems to get any reps during a game is when Chad was playing catch up and then he disappears from the play calling. If someone mentions a TE to complement him then we already have one his name is Sean Ryan!

Baker has been tag "underutilized" for a while now. Pennington has his faults but not throwing to guys that are open was never one of them. If Baker's production doesn't increase with Clemens, I think it's about time we do think about getting ourselves a TE. I haven't been to a game in a while so I can't speak on whether or not Baker is getting open on a consitent basis. I can, however, say that we to attempt to throw in his direction, there usually not that much separation between he and the defender. Although Baker is very agile and has great hands, he is not the fleetest of TEs. It wouldn't surprise me one bit that part of the reason why he has been so underutilized has been because of his inability to get open.

TE isnt a pressing need for our team - Baker CAN be more than average if given the chances. I love when people call for the FO to do illogical things.

I like Baker, when given the chance, he makes the catch. They just don't throw to him much.

Chris Baker isn't a suitable tight end for Kellen Clemens? Man, the whole world must be out for this guy! I swear to God, if they called Baker's '06 touchdown catch against the Browns correctly he'd be getting triple the praise that Ben Watson gets.

Incidentally, Kellen Clemens has one, JUST ONE touchdown pass as an NFL quarterback. Any idea who caught it?

    Chris Baker, the Touchdown Maker.

Right. Baker is fine. He rarely is out in the pattern because the Jets' pass blocking leaves something to be desired. Also, Cotchery and Coles invade his work area because Chad can not throw the outs.

I think he dropped it because the throw by Chad was low.

I hope Baker is used more now that Kellen can spread the field with his throwing abilities. Give him the ball, he'll catch it, and do his thing from there.

I'd love a big 6ft 6 or 7 tight end but we have a lot of other more pressing needs at the moment!
