No, he cannot. The guy played as bad as the scrubs we have right now in both pre-season and regular season. Last year also he had a major drop off. Depth only if we even retain him at all.

This...you coulda stopped after "We need an OLine". Joed HAS poured a ton into our line, but freak injuries (Becton/AVT/Max/Brown, Becton/AVT/Brown) has killed any chance.

Even going back to Gase/Sam, we had the exact same issues....Gase trotted out 21 different Olines, the most in NFL history for one season. I get that a true franchise QB can rise above bad lines, but even Mahomes couldn't when it mattered most. Now insert two rookie QBs in Sam and Zach, behind terrible lines, and the outcome is soooo predictable.

I'm not sure what else we coulda done, going back 4-5 years even. But at least JD TRIED with high draft picks and expensive FAs.

    No we do not.

I watched two games on Sunday. Giants v Pats and Eagles v Bills. It's so clear just HOW important getting the QB position right is. Furthermore, over 50 QB's have started an NFL game this year which is wild.

I know Aaron will be back and 2024 will be better than 2023, seriously, it can't get worse. But, how much longer he plays is TBD. Tom Brady is clearly the exception and I just can't say A Rod at 40 won't be prone to any more injuries as he has shown these last few years.

What would a top 5 pick and OL really do here? Or that same OL and freaking Mike White or Baker Mayfield. NOTHING!!!

Need to get your elite QB somewhere. Spent 3 first on our OL lmao and they all got hurt because or QB set them up to get hurt with broken plays 24/7.

50 Qbs at this point is sadly pretty average. it's been the impact ones that is the issue. rodgers, cousins, and burrow are all huge losses.

Yes injury related for sure, but the problem is we ALREADY KNEW we had injury related issue going into the year. We KNEW Becton missed 2 years. We KNEW Brown is like 100 years old and got hurt last year. We KNEW AVT missed half a year last year. None of these are surprises. That’s the problem. We didn’t do enough. We wanted to count on Becton and wow, shocker…he’s hurt again. We keep playing AVT out of position and while he’s good enough to do it, wow shocker he got hurt again.

That’s my issue. We did not do enough to bolster the OL. Why the fuck did we sign Billy Turner…he’s Wayne Hunter bad. Why didn’t we keep Herbig when he was decently serviceable last year?

JD could have done MUCH more here and didn’t, so he deserves the shit he’s getting. On top of that, we are fucking in year 4 with him and his failure to build an OL.

Here is the thing about injuries, particularly to OLine. Injuries beget injuries. Take a listen to this, scroll to 22:30 and listen for a couple of mins. Dr Chao talking, who is a very reputable guy, running a company now specializing in assessing injury risk. He brings up an example of an OLine. Saying if you have a strong OLine, there is lower risk of injury, because there is less movement. Once you start moving people out of position, this is when the risk of injury increases. And when you put scrubs in, there is even more risk of injury. You then put next level scrubs, and more injury risk, etc... And add QB to that mix too, as he is behind the line and he can also improve the line.

This is exactly what has been happening to us. JD put out garbage of a line to start the year. Duane increased injury risk for a QB who got hurt. Then got hurt himself. Because of that 3 people had to move out of original position. While they did well relatively speaking for a very short stint, because solid Tipp replaced garbage Duane, they were out of position, and AVT got hurt exactly like he did last year playing out of position. And when AVT got hurt, the line turned into shit since we didn't have depth, and the worse it gets, the higher injury risk. Injuries beget injuries.

That's why when you have a good line to start and good depth in case of a real freak injury, you are less likely to get more and more injuries. Because JD doesn't get it, and had poor line to start and no depth, we now at a higher likelihood to continue getting injured. It's not just bad luck. It's poor OLine building by JD that is directly contributing to this fiasco.

I get that - but who is the sure shot FA offensive tackle that he could have signed ? Bringing back George Fant might have been the only option and who knows if he wanted to come back

When the Jets were picking at 15 in the draft, the next OT wasn’t picked until the late 20s and then Joe D drafted a starting C/G

Surprisingly the line is holding up OK so far with Becton back and Warren at RT. But Boyle is making Zach look like Rodgers. Is Siemian really worse than that, and if so why the fuck is he on the roster?

Warren looked awful that last drive, but he's a rookie.

Becton, he can go elsewhere next year. Below average tackle who can't stay healthy, who thinks he deserves to be LT.

Can someone please ban 80sjets again? This board doesn't need to go down like the football team.

Here is the problem. Your plan is good but i dont think people understand for O-Lineman, the demand is way to high.
Example - "only pay Becton 2nd string money" - 2nd string quality lineman are getting paid like STARTERS,
You said to cut Tomilson but you want to replace him with a guy like Jonah Williams. Jonah is probably similar skill wise and will cost more money.
    Cutting Tomilson adds another hole...

and last point. Joe Douglas can have 5 1st round picks and sign 5 FAs. If they dont stay healthy none it matters. Joe HAS done work to the Oline and has added every year. Injuries have killed them the past 2 years

Tough to ask any QB, let alone an inexperienced one, to navigate the shambles which is the Jets OL, whose failure is integral to a tank job.

Ban him for having an opinion you don't like?

Breece Hall has not looked like the Breece Hall of old for the past month. It's possible hes injured or something but it is fair for someone to point it out. the Jets might want to consider giving someone else more of Hall's carries. IMO he is bouncing outside too much and not breaking any tackles

ill add more to this. There are RBs with bad O-lines still producing. For a guy that is 220lb - he never falls forward

Hall was like a dream runningback for LaFleur’s one cut and go zone system because he’s big, fast and hard to stop once he gets going.

Not running cover for Hall but the whole shotgun run up the gut isn’t his strongest run play. God forbid our stupid ass coordinator recognized that though.

He had actually gained more cumulative yards from what I have seen by bouncing some of those predictable inside runs to the outside. That is until Saleh told him (though the media??) to try for the "difficult yards", whatever the fuck that means.

it was a stupid thing for saleh to say to the media about one of our best players but i get what he's saying (not that i agree with it in this situation, i get it)
it's basically instead of trying for the home run every time just get on base. take the 1-2 yard hole and fight it out to stay in front of the sticks. don't run around losing yards looking for the big play. it's the same as telling a QB to just check it down and take the easy yards instead of going deep every play. the theory is that we'd have a lot more 3rd and 4-6 then 3rd and 10s if he did that
