miller is a ok cb but he gives up some big plays we really have missed barrett. i'd rather have miller as the nickle than starting. i hope he gets healthy soon because whos going to cover roy williams this week?
That'd be Andre Dyson, who did a very nice job on Chambers until the 4th quarter... I'm shocked that somebody wants Barrett, every week it's killing Barrett and saying he sucks...
I'd much rather have Barret lined up at #2 than Miller- not even a question in my mind. Miller @ NB full-time is the only way I can stomach him being on the D. Too soft and his coverage sucks- so what does everyone focus on? Tackeling, which in and of itself isn't really that good- too many times has he tried to make the "highlight reel" and he does make it, because the tackle is just so piss-poor or non-existent. Couple that with his trashtalk- Justin, you can only trashtalk when your play backs up what you are saying.
he was our NB yesterday and ur still bitching.. when barrett gets back and there picking on him as they always do u will be bitching again.. the reality is it dont matter who is back there it could be champ bailey. with no pressure what so ever and giving qbs all day to throw passes will be complete. so u keep crying for barrett you will get what u wish for.
Hey it must be tough to type with one hand as you massage Justin Miller's manhood with the other. Nowhere was I bitching, just stating the obvious. I'm well aware that he was our NB yesterday and you know what, I still wasn't impressed. The way most of the board craves his play you would think that each one of us is seeing a percentage of his salary. If your theory is to hold water, why didn't Dyson look like shit yesterday, outside of that one long pass I seem to remember. Maybe because Dyson doesn't suck on the level of Justin Miller when it comes to coverage (i.e. not playing soft and letting your guy get nearly every ball thrown to him), penalties (not getting stupid penalties when it hurts the most) and yes, tackleing (some are quick to point out that his tackeling was an improvement upon the prior games, which isn't saying much). Now, let's hear your bitching.....
dyson gave up a td. and had big face mask call that also led to ascore. again why dont u point these things out? i know though dyson played well because he had a interception right? but ur right harrington had 260 yards yesterday miller gave up all the completions. miller gave up the 130 yards to ronnie brown too. and u keep on bitching about his tackling he is not a damn linebackers. most cbs are average tacklers. so of the best cover corners cant tackle worth a damn.
I was the one to mention the fact the Dyson gave up a long throw, which you confirmed was a TD. Face mask- eh, those calls were questionable all day, including ones that SHOULD have been called in our favor but weren't. An interception is nice but it doesn't make the player and certainly doesn't make you forget about him getting burned for a TD. I'm talking about thus far this season- Miller can't even come close to being a starting caliber CB or even NB for countless other teams (with depth) in this league- he would be benched, no questions asked. The only reason you're seeing so much of the guy now is because our depth is piss poor and Barrett is hurt. Don't you think that if Miller is as good as you would like to have me believe, that he wouldn't have been removed from the starting CB rotation and replaced by mini-me Coleman? Give me your top 3 points you would use to highlight Justin Miller's play: and don't include KR because as I've said already, I'll be his strongest proponent there. I'm waiting.... PS Are you going to try and sell me that Bridge in Brooklyn too?
im not gonna sell u anything.. but if ur constantly sit there and wait for miller to a mistake just so u can talk about how garbage he is. u should do it for everyone else in secondary cause Newsflash they all were giving up plays. were was dyson in the 4th qt when wes walker was running by him? how many times did i see coleman go for a knockout shot and bounce off the receiver. were the hell is eric coleman at?... like i said i dont care who u have in ur secondary without a dline they will suffer. look at jacksonville they have two no name cbs looking like stars. because they have a Great Dline. patriots can throw any tom, dick or harry in the secondary and he will succeed because they have a great dline. let me see you try and cover a wr for 10 seconds + the guy bound to get open. but go ahead hate on miller all uwant.. next year when that dline is fixed and running miller will be playing well and u wil be back on his bandwagon. anyway i seen games last were barrett was picked on for entire Td drives and thats when we had a pass rusher.. i cant wait to see how he covers now that he has to cover guys for even longer now.
Listen, through this thread and the other JMiller thread, I've been talking about his play over the course of the season. I've highlighted the areas where I feel he's lacking, such as playing soft and coverage when not in a zone scheme, making piss poor tackles (even for a cb- I don't buy into your CB's really don't tackle well argument) and getting called for stupid penalties when it's the last thing we need. Waiting for him to make a mistake isn't really much of a wait- you can set your watch by it. Don't try and burn me on the Coleman argument, I was the first one to question his starting CB role yesterday, and his play proved that at this point he has no business being up front and personal with the #2 receiver on any team. I've asked you to highlight 3 areas where you feel he has triumphed this season, outside of KR. You've failed to do so, which I would take as your acknowledging everything I've said thus far. Again, I am not focusing on ONE game, rather his CB play for the entire year, which has been piss poor at best.
miller is decent in coverage, but he can't tackle. in 1-on-1 coverage on the deep balls, he scares the sh-t out of me, especially since he never turns his head back to look for the ball, which is basically begging for a pass INT call. he should have wrapped up that guy on the screen pass, but he (ronnie brown?) dusted him (miller) off like a rag doll and picked up another 8 yards.
if thats the case we need about 10 more threads with each defensive players name then. cause the entire defense outside of kerry rhodes has been piss poor. its whatever though ur entitled to ur opinion.the jets should just cut miller since he is as bad as u say than..the did for strait. but for some reason mangini is high on miller i wonder why if he is such a bad player.
it was wes walker. coleman was standing right there he shoulda gang tackled him after miller had him wraped up.
No, we don't need 10 threads on other players, you and I have our Justin Miller thread right here which seems to suit us just fine. Give me the 3 areas where he has excelled as a CB this year? Can't think of 3, ok, then 2 perhaps? 1, maybe? I'm not calling for his head- yet. He's much too valuable on ST and every player has potential. However, his actions thus far have shown anything but potential.
this argument isnt going no where u have ur opinion i have mine.. but im gonna leave on this note. if he as bad as you say he is cut him. and dont tell me about special teams cause washington is just as good as a returner. guys dont get paid millions to return kicks so if he is doing that bad jets should cut him.
What is going on with David Barrett? from the Daily News -- CB David Barrett, inactive in two of the last three games, is wondering about his role. He's listed with a hip injury, but he said, "I'm healthy." He declined further comment. I think he is the second best CB on the team and if nothing else could be the best FS on the roster if they wanted him to make the switch.

Miller is in his 2nd year. Wasn't the knock on him coming out bad attitude and that he was raw but with tons of talent? This is like the people calling for D'Brick's head and we're 6 games into the season. This guy is in his 2nd year and is still learning. And yes, the entire defense sucks right now, so I wouldn't really single him out either.
agreed, but the daily news snippet made it sound like he is inactive for reasons other than health. any truth to this?
