Aside from the D, the game balls should go to Mann & Zuerlein. I mean, how long has it been since we felt even a little confident, when an important kick was about to happen. Today, Mann did his share keeping the field-position battle in-check. And Zuerlein was perfect. So, here's to two big contributors to the Jets 4-game streak!
Good point. Forgot to mention them after the win. Mann specifically is having a great year compared to his previous years. Greg the Leg is his usual great self. Kudos to both
yep, and that comment about him being “shaky” at times. i guess perfection is expectwd every punt. He averaged 53yds today and is now 7th in the league in net punting despite playing injured a couple weeks. in addition to being a great holder, kick off specialist, tackler, and passer? and 1 for 1 on on-side attempts. yeah, shaky dude.
The jets edge in the kicking game was affecting the mood and momentum from the first missed FG to the end of the game.
Excellent point, it's felt like decades since this FO took the P and (especially) K positions seriously. Like-- games were lost because we couldn't make a kick. So dumb. I don't even know if they are taking seriously even now, or they just lucked out with Greg Z not sucking this year.
For the last few years, I've wanted the team to draft a kicker on day 3. But I'll take Zuerlein's performance this year.
They both have been very good what’s the contract situation of both of them? If anyone knows off the top of the head. If not I can google it later on
^Jettexas has to be Braden Mann, right? He's definitely having a good season. His first two he'd been toward the bottom of the league in many aspects. Sounds like he might be healthier now too. He also had a pretty crazy touchback-free streak until this weekend. Solid on kickoffs too. Good stuff from him And can't believe how good Zuerlein has been weeks 2-7. If this continues, he's a Pro Bowler.
See Zach deservedly getting a lot of heat for today's game but Mann seriously screwed this defense over. As bad as the offense was we lost by 5. Pats scored multiple field goals after starting on our side of the field.
STs sucked today Greg missed a FG too. Though on the replay I see he was about to get blocked if he shot straight, and maybe tried to squeeze it a but to his left. Perhaps not Greg's fault on this one, but definitely ST failed on the attempt. Btw, I checked on Pinero, the guy who kicked great for us last year, and I thought we should have kept this year. Today he missed 48 yarder to win the game in regulation (PAT with penalty yards), and then 33 yard FG to win in OT. His team ended up losing in OT.
The field goal unit has been allowing pressure off of that right side like crazy the past couple of weeks. He almost had one blocked last week, I think, on a similar pressure, but managed to angle the kick just right to catch the wind in Denver and get it through the uprights. Boyer needs to figure out what's going on on that right side and fix it before it becomes an even bigger issue moving forward.
Zuerlein and Mann must have seen this thread then shit the bed today. Can't we change the name of it to Proper Pumpkin Picking or something so they don't come back here again and get over confident?
Yeah, I thought of this during the game. Sorry, I started the thread. Unlike Zach & the CS, I'll learn... will refrain from starting possible voodoo threads in the future.
