I'm reducing my cable bill by only getting the most basic of service and streaming everything through a Roku 3. Has anyone else done this? I already have a Netflix and some aps but my package won't have ESPN. I was wondering if Watch ESPN is essentially the same as having ESPN? Can I watch any thing that is airing on ESPN on the ap? My concern is the World Cup and college basketball conference tourneys. I assume I would also have access to ESPN 3 and things like that. THis is all new to me so any help would be great

WatchESPN gives you ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNnews. ESPN3 is online anyway and its mostly college games that wont make television.

I have used it for Carolina games that aren't on regular espn. I have it set up through my son's xbox. I am not sure if you get regular espn programming or not.

But it blows because they don't have agreements with many internet providers..I mean big names and small names.

Also, I had AT&T (fuckers) for my internet once and I tried to do like Barry and can my tv for the Watch ESPN app. When I connected to my AT&T account I was blocked from Watch ESPN because I don't subscribe to television.

Just saying all this to warn Barry

    From their website: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/about

"Live streams of all the WatchESPN Networks are available at no additional cost to fans who receive ESPN as part of their TV subscription through participating TV providers."

    Emphasis mine.

Seems like you need to have ESPN on your cable package to get it unless, "ESPN3 is also available at no cost to U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel on computers connected to on-campus educational networks and on-base military networks." Not sure if that applies to you, but note this is on computers only but I'm sure you can stream to your or use a HDMI to connect.

That's where I am getting fucked. My internet service sucks so I have to go out and bundle it through Cox who suck but aren't as bad as Comcast. Where they get you is they know people are streaming so their packages are built so that you pretty much are still paying full price for cable with shit channels to get a faster download rate.

I know there are games as I've seen some replays but I wonder if I can watch live shows like PTI or Sportscenter.
