He needs more touches, he is an explosive pure runner that needs to be utilized more. After that Raiders game for some reason we stopped using him.

The guy has the most 20+ yard runs out of every rookie HB in the NFL, yet he only has 44 carries on the year. Not bad for a "power back".

well when he gets his touches, he is less effective than Jones. Jones has been running hard, and running very very well.

besides when we get as far behind as we got today, you can't run the rock, you have to throw the ball in order to try and get back in the game. So touches were very limited. Oh and Sanchez played like ass again.

We didn't really do that much, I remember us running on almost every 1st down and Jones still got 21 carries.

yes Jones got 21 carries, but i believe greene only had about 3-4. normally we have closer to 35 carries in a game.

Also it really didnt help that we sustained all of 1 drive all game...

yea and the only drive we had ended in a long TD pass. don't have a problem with it, but you cant expect to do that everytime. i love how this past summer they kept saying how we are a power running team and what not. well if that was the case why was sanchez allowed to throw so many picks? we should have been running the ball more often.

The Jets decision not to use Greene this season, and really they're not using him much at all except for the back to back games against Buffalo and Oakland, is irrational on the face of it. I'm guessing that the Jets have some durability concerns around Greene at this point and they're trying to avoid wearing the tread off his tires prematurely in a season they have all but written off due to playing a rookie QB and the Jenkins injury.

If Greene was fully healthy and the Jets were choosing not to use him then there'd be a problem. I highly doubt that's the situation. He had a sprained ankle and bruised ribs in camp. That kind of initial burn-in doesn't bode well for his ability to hold up to 200+ carries a season in the NFL.

Jones played well, no need for Greene this week.

what do you mean by this, he is less effective wtih more touches. When has he gotten more touches??? Once and he became more effective against Oakland.

You are misreading another post. He never said "more touches". Read it again.

And most players are effective against Oakland, they have perhaps the worst run defense in the league. The mighty Bernard Scott had 118 yards on them yesterday. Carson Palmer ran for two TDs on them as well. So Greene had a good game vs. Oakland, alot of players have.

Personally, I think they're just sprinkling him in now and again with the view to take over from TJ next year; they're similar types of player, and you may as well run the tyres off a player who could be elsewhere next year, than a player you have only recently acquired.

TJ needs to get 20-30 carries a game. He is running wild. Let him carry the load. Sprinkle in SG for 5-10.

The Jets are still one of the top rushing teams in the league--that's with Leon down and it's not like we've been protecting leads all year. You keep going 3-and-out and throwing picks, how many carries is your second RB going to get?
