Ranking Every NFL Owner, From Worst to First | Stadium Talk Figured you guys are burned out by now talking about Zach, Rodgers, Saleh and JD.. I know I am..
One thing I noticed about that list is, the RoIs on these purchases are astronomical. No wonder nobody will sell their team. I do agree with Woody's spot on this list though.
I've been doing just as much talking about that numb nuts as I have the rest, but I see and acknowledge your point. The fact that Dan Snyder is still on the list tells me it's a little older, not sure how old, didn't delve into it too much. But trying to be as unbiased as possible, his ranking is in the bottom couple and I'm good with that.
The Commanders are going to be a good case study on how much owners matter. The Redskins were horribly managed forever and now they have an owner that is apart of two pretty well run organizations in their respective leagues (76ers and Devils).
The team hasn’t been successful from 2010- and current but the team was competitive and was a playoff team consistently from 2000-2010. As far as business goes, I believe the jets are in the top 5 of most valuable teams in the NFL and he has made it worth 10x then what he bought it for. So put the record aside - financially he has done good.
Yeah but how much of that is simply tied to both inflation and the NFL’s natural growth? I.E. have the Jets grown more than other franchises percentage wise? Maybe they have and it was obviously a good investment but I have a hard time seeing Woody making all these great business decisions that have lead to the business success of the franchise.
It goes further back than 2000, but not much. They were good starting when Parcells came. So from 1997 to 2010 they were decent and went to the playoffs regularly.
Nobody is debating that. The NFL prints money. Every team is up massively from a business perspective. Producing consistently good football teams is what takes skill and acumen.
The value of the Jets' organization continues to rise astronomically while the team continues to suck ass. There is obviously more value in Woody being a shrewd businessman, instead of a "successful" NFL owner. This is why many highly valued franchises in sports such as the Jets go several decades without winning jack shit. From a marketing standpoint, it doesn't make much sense for the league to script championships to teams which already have a large captive following.
