They update their draft nearly every day, so take this with a grain of salt but they have a 4 round mock that is pretty interesting to read if you're bored at work like me.

    They have us taking:
    1. Vernon Gholston, OLB, Ohio State
    2. Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
    3. Lavelle Hawkins, WR, Cal*
    4. Steve Slaton, RB, West Virginia

*Note: They have us passing up Roy Shoening and Adarius Bowman in the 3rd and becoming late 3rd round picks.

    Thoughts? Lets discuss.

i dont like the slaton pick at all. He's just another leon washington. I would much rather get shawn crable int eh 4th round for some OLB depth. He has experience in teh 3-4 and played next to harris.

I agree I would think we would be high on Crable judging from how Harris worked out. I would like to grab him and I think he is a solid player like Harris. I would rather go bowman for his size than hawkins. I would love to take Hardy ideally though. I would like to see his size make him a great red zone target for us. I think we are going to see the Wr position transform into bigger players in the years to come

First, I also agree with Plasticsloth that Slaton is just another Washington and that I don't see the benefit.

As for Griffdog, I definately agree that Hardy would be ideal because of his height, but I also would prefer Bowman to Hawkins for his size. Not quite sure where they were going with the Hawkins pick.

From what I heard Bowman had a terrible week of practice at the senior bowl a few weeks ago and dropped A LOT of passes, his stock has been dropping as a result

If we can get Crable to put next to Harris, I would orgasm in my pants. If we pass up on him, I would cry.

    In my pants.

I understand that he didn't practice well at the senior bowl (not even counting how little he practiced due to getting hurt) but Crable in the early fourth is a steal.

Also, considering that we have shown interest in Stacey Andrews, I would assume that we would be more concerned with getting a guard in the draft and would pursue Andrews in free agency. I can't see us going through free agency without picking up at least one offensive lineman.

wooooo thats not cool man, still yeah I'd rather not get him. I dont know where he will fall but I think that a guy like Jacob Hester might be a better option than Slaton

I won't even comment on Gholston.

Cherilus is a decent option, not my favorite RT, but I'd be Ok with the pick.

Lavelle Hawkins, great player, but IMO, he's going to be a Mid-2nd Rd pick. If we pick-up another Mid 2nd Rd pick, I'd love to draft Hawkins, although he doesn't have the size some Jet fans would like.

I'm not a Slaton Fan, other backs could be a better fit for the Jets. Choice, Boyd or Forte would be some I would consider. All three are more flexible....better receivers and blockers and seem more "NFL ready" to me. I believe all 3 Backs will be better pros than College players.

Shawn Crable lasting 'til mid Day 2 seems laughable. I realize he looks lost and retarded when asked to do anything but get in the backfield, but he's damn good at getting in the backfield. With his measurables, his motor, his production...theres a chance he makes it in the late first/early second. I definitely don't think he gets out of the second.

Theres talk he might run as low as a 4.5 at the combine. Plus, this is a guy who ran down 70 yards downfield to tackle Javon Ringer after missing him in the backfield.

He might be one of the most underrated prospects in this draft right now.

yeah I havent seen much of him but if he is that highly ranked than fine having him and Gholston might be a great linebacker tandom with Harris in the middle I dare Maroney, Lynch, and Maroney to come at us

Crable would be brought in for depth if he gets drafted, and he and gholston would only get drafted if they really don't believe in Thomas' ability. I would love to see crable and gholston drafted, but i dont know if it were to happen. And i agree, that with both of them, Laurence Maroney as well as his twin brother would have a tough time running the ball.
