It wouldn't be "shocking" if Larry Johnson and Willie Parker were both released before the start of the season, according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post. Parker has shown little since signing, and Johnson could be done in by his poor pass protection in last week's game. Running backs play a big role in Shanahan's max protect schemes, and he won't risk his quarterback's health if a back can't pick up a blitz. Clinton Portis is perhaps the best in the league at pass blocking. Ryan Torain and Keiland Williams could end up as Portis' backups instead of Johnson. Aug. 24 - 12:34 pm et Source: Washington Post I know what everyone will say --- "yeah, jeez - why don't we just pick up everyone." I'm excited about Shonn Greene, but reminder - the guy got hurt last year. You could not possibly consider LT a feature back by himself and initial report card on McKnight is gracious with a C at best. This is nothing compared to last year when we entered the season with Thomas Jones, Leon Washington and Shonn Greene. I'm not trying to build a past prime fantasy football team here, but you have to admit that if Greene goes down, -- we've got a problem that is bordering on f--ked. Willie Parker cannot make 4 games in row without getting injured. Larry Johnson might have something left in the tank & would have an improved attitude following Rex the Pied Piper.
