From his website: Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Doing Well In Early Stages Of Recovery It has been three weeks to the day since I had my surgery and things are going well. My focus is on the day-to-day process, the recovery, and the improvement that comes. The rehab process has been smooth. I feel like I'm making the right kind of progress at this point. The surgery was successful. I plan to get back on the field next year. That is the goal and that is going to be my focus. When you have this kind of injury and surgery, you can't get too far ahead of yourself. You have to be patient. I'm on crutches right now, and I'm bored when I'm not rehabbing my knee. That is the most difficult part right now, because I'm used to being so active and involved at this time of the year. It is also so hard to see the team go out there each week and not be part of it. More than anything, I miss the competition on Sunday and I miss being with the guys. I battle frustration, I battle boredom and, yes, it's annoying. But I think a key to coming back strong is having the right attitude, and I have that. I know I will be back better than ever. I'm going to keep working hard and fighting through it. In the meantime, all I can do is take care of my business and help my team any way I can. I know it has been a tough season. I also believe we are better than the record we have right now. I'll keep in touch. I'm working hard, so send me some questions and I will answer. http://business4.odc.net/jonvilma_v255/default.asp
I can't remember, did Vilma and S. Taylor plan on the same team at the U or were they a few years apart?
Too bad he couldn't hack it in the 3-4. Harris' play this year has pretty much sealed the envelope holding Vilma's ticket out of town.
I heard from a completely unreliable source that the Jets were trying Vilma at safety before he got hurt. Not a bad idea honestly.
No offense to you, but you're source is also a complete douche bag...that's a terrible idea and a stupid rumor. The guy is a tackling machine, but he wouldn't be able to cover the deep ball or passes over the middle to save his life. I'd rather see him at defensive end than safety. If the coaching staff were to move him anywhere, I would hope it would be to outside linebacker.
very true! although some will say his height will limit him at olb, to which i totally disagree. lawrence taylor wasnt tall, like vilma, but they both had elite speed.
They played together.... People on this website were torn between whether we should draft Vilma, Taylor of DJ Williams that year..... What a draft class! The U also gave us Wilfork and Winslow that year Surprised Jon didn't say anything about Sean in his blog....
We don't play in a cover 2 anymore where both safeties play deep. He could pull off SS if he has a full recovery and gets all his speed back. Honestly, they just need to get a big bad NT and keep Vilma at ILB.
