Vikings trade QB Sage Rosenfels to Giants Email Print Share Stumble it Twackle News RSS TweetBy Matt De Lima, Saturday, September 4, 2010 9:53:09 AM CDT The quarterback situation in Minnesota steals another headline, even when Brett Favre is already on the team. The Minnesota Vikings traded backup QB Sage Rosenfels to the New York Giants in exchange for RB Darius Reynaud, an undisclosed 2011 draft pick and a conditional 2012 draft pick. This move solidifies QB Tarvaris Jackson in the No. 2 QB spot in Minnesota. For the New York "football" Giants, this moves second year QB Rhett Bomar into third-string
Did the Vikes not give Sage a nice sized contract and bonus last offseason? Guess that shows how much confidence the Giants had in Bomar. Man he really fucked his career up.
Bomar played well in pre-season though... and he's supposed to make the 53 man roster so not all hope is lost for him. Rosenfels is a nice back-up option...
He played fine, but there had to of been a reason they made a move for a starting QB priced backup. Either Eli is more hurt than they're letting on, or Bomar sucks.
or they need a good, proven backup qb. i guess it will be tavaris jackson when favre finally gets hurt this year.
The Vikings just saved about 3.3 million moving Sage and (this next part being only a rumor mind you)they are thinking about bringing in Houshmanzadeh and could use the cap room. Bomar's release has been a point of contention with Coughlin, but either way it's not really up for debate that Sage is better. And how on earth could Eli being hurt play in to this? He had a wound, not an injury, and it's healed now. PS: Don't know if I spelled what's-his-name's name right, don't care enough to look it up.
Sage goes in all fields. Bomar may very well develop into a halfway-decent QB eventually, but if the Giants are only going to keep 2 QBs on the roster, you'd like for the second guy to already be halfway-decent.
I think they are going all out for a superbowl this year and will worry about next year when it comes.
