This is the 2nd time this season I've had to do this, which is kind of sad, but the forum is really quiet going into the weekend, so I figured we should get some Bills-talk going....

I know a lot of you are chalking this up as a win, but I think that's a mistake..... The Bills are not a good team, but neither is Miami, and our defense almost let them take last week's game from us.... Not to mention they're coming in with an unknown commodity at QB, which, other than a Bye Week, is the most common factor leading to bad teams turning it around in recent NFL history....

So let's hear your keys to the game! I'll give you guys one for O, D and STs before I open it up to your opinions....

    On Offense

We've gotta pound the rock, plain and simple....

In 3 games, teams have run the ball 103 times (34 times a game!) against the Bills, and are STILL averaging 5.2 yards per rush! Their rush D makes ours look like the 2006 Vikings....

So the key to victory is going to be the same as last week.... Take the short stuff in the passing game, and then pound the rock! If we win this game, I'd bet the farm that the stat-sheet will have Jones with more than 20-25 carries, and Leon in the 10-15 carry range. Let's mix the two up, and take it to them.....

I know running the ball is a key in any game, but in this one, it's too obvious to put anything else as the key on offense....

    On Defense

I'm not going to put 'Pressure Edwards' here, because, quite simply, I don't think we're capable of it in this scheme.... Instead, I'm going to put the focus on the running game...

Their running game has been just about average this year (Lynch getting 4.0 YPC), but compared to the rest of their team, this is their strong point.... We, statistically, haven't been terrible against the run (3.9 YPC against), but we all know we can't make a stop when we need it....

If we're going to win this game, we've got to be able to rely on our front 7 to make plays in the running game... If they struggle, and we have to bring a safety into the box, that will put us in a bad position, with Lee Evans on the outside one-on-one with one of our corners (could be Barrett! Eek!)... Evans hasn't put up good numbers this year, but we all know what he's capable of, and he's due for a big game....

So let's shut down the run without bringing up too much help, and force Buffalo to pass the ball early and often....

    On Special Teams

Wrap up the mo-fo'in return man! From what I've read, Terrence, McGee WILL PLAY with those busted up ribs, and he's capable of breaking one....

We were better in KO coverage last week, but we still allowed one long one, where Nugent had to get in on the tackle.... I really believe adding Vilma to the coverage team helped, but here's hoping they don't move away from that this week...

Our guys have to stay in their damn lanes on KO coverage... Watching the games, it's mystifying that these guys who have been playing their whole lives STILL haven't learned that you don't just all flow to the ball on a KO..... 3 or 4 times we've seen the outside guys bend in towards the ball, and the return man will hit a seam, and bust it out to the sideline, with nobody but Nuge in sight....

So solid tackling, and getting back to the fundamentals of kick coverage is ESSENTIAL this week.... This game's going to be closer than we think, and field position will play a big factor in who wins..

Alright guys, that's my take.... Let's hear what you guys think... :buffaloblows:

On Offense, Thomas Jones, early and often. THey need to utilize Baker in the passing game.

    Specifically, 3 Wide, 1 TE, 1 RB.

2 Wide on the Strong side.

At the snap. both WR's run up the field, the TE cuts underneath running away from the LoS, towards the Sideline, Gets hit with the ball 3-4 yards out, turns up field.

Later that play can be run as a screen with the TE stopping to Block, and the back catching the ball.

    On D.

Attack by overloading one side of the line and make their oversize linemen run back and forth.

We need that attention whore Bills chick to post pictures of herself sucking down beers again. In fact, maybe we can buy her a Jets jersey and have her replace Fireman Ed, I'm sure she would love the camera time.

    1.Protect Chad (as usual)
2.Try to get some pressure on pass rush (not holding my breath)
2B.Try and stuff the run (still not holding my breath)
    3. Pound it up the middle with Jones
    4. Get Leon the ball and in the game!
    5. Bench McCarines! (sorry just had to)

I would say, run the ball, confuse Edwards, get some turnovers. Get Brad Smith the ball some more.

And throw to Jerricho, alot! (ok, he's on my fantasy team, I confess)

    Offense:

Power running game all day long, they dont have any linebackers left. Line up with Jones, Barnes at fullback, and that new number 40 kid who loves to hit as te/h-back and just shove it right down their throats. After awhile that will seriously open up the playaction passing and Washington outside running.

    Defense:

We HAVE to stop Lynch, particularly on the left side (they got two beast lineman on that side). If we can at least contain their run game, or build up a lead, that would be great as we can just blitz, blitz and blitz the new kid Edwards. (I do think he could surprise us though)

Overall I think we can win and definetely score some points. Jets 34 Buffalo 17

I'd like to see them shorten up the space for Jones in the backfield, especially on runs to the left side. He's been lining up nearly 7 yards deep. We know Schobel is going to try to bullrush Brick. Getting a quicker burst to the line means Brick can give just that initial hit before Jones is past. That could limit Schobel's pressure in the passing game, as it causes him to hesitate for a moment before trying to fly into the backfield.

Huge blitz packages. Edwards has a tendency to hold onto the ball longer than he should. We HAVE to have a pass rush. If we lose this game... it will be because the defense couldnt do anything.

-stop (aka for the Jets, contain) the run. If we contain Lynch, then the rookie QB will be forced to make throws and we have playmakers in the secondary. Make Edwards throw the ball. Create some confusion and call for some blitzes while we are at it to make sure that Edwards will not get comfortable. The last thing we need is for a rookie QB in his first start to get comfortable and light us up.

The Bills defense, especially their rush Defense, is horrible. Jones should be able to get on a roll and chad will be able to get the dink and dunks to coles and cotchery. Jets should win this one by a touchdown atleast, probably 2. Against a team that is this bad, and injury riddled to boot, it is a must win.

Buffallo is fully one dimensional. Stop Lynch, and they'll score 10 pts sunday. Our offense is gelling, and Chad is hitting his receivers well in the two games he's played in. The running game should look top 5 tomorrow due to the fact that Buffalo cant stop the run. Edwards' lack of experience may help him, but Mangini is not a dumb coach. I believe we'll keep him in check. Edwards will be under a conservative offense, so stacking the box and pressing receivers will be the name of the game. I can also see Leon Washington being a huge factor on screens, as well as B. Smith being fully used in his packages. Maybe a WR option pass? With a hurt LB Corp, Look for Baker to be used underneath, with the occasional seam route to stretch the defense. Chad can make that throw down the middle of the field to Baker. I've seen him do it.

As long as the attitude is correct going into the game, the Jets won't beat themselves.

    On offense:
    1) Buffalo has an extremely young defense, good chance they will be over agressive, leaving their gaps. Continue the shifting, players in motion pre snap, run some misdirection plays early to see how they react. screens, draws, reverses. Against the Pats, Ravens and Fins this wouldn't have worked but we should be able to get some yardage and keep them off balance.
    2) Pound Thomas jones 15-20 times and get Leon 8-10 touches.
    3) get the ball to baker between the numbers to keep the safties off of coles and cotchery.
    4) take a chance deep early, just show it to them so they at least have to think about it.

    on Defense
    1) our biggest weakpoint is teams running the ball at the left side of our defense (Hobson, Coleman, Vilma). Shift the defense in that direction so that they have to run the ball towards Ellis, Thomas, Harris and Barton.
    2) Blitz early and often, bring 6 or 7 guys. If it's working great, if not then drop 7 or 8 into coverage and lets see if a young qb has the patience to wait for someone to get open.
    3) Can we see some Drew Coleman? Barrett is just a horrible cover corner, there has to be anyone can do a better job.
