First off, this thread will be moved to Draft forum in a few days.

So, Vegas odds as of 3/20 are like this. Some interesting bets. Apparently, Vegas doesn't think very highly of Kayvon Thibodeaux.

    Odds can be viewed here.

    https://sportsbook.fanduel.com/football?tab=nfl-draft

Here are the relevant odds and payouts. My comments are in the end

2022 NFL Draft - Number 1 Overall Pick
    Aidan Hutchinson -420
    Evan Neal +700
    Ikem Ekwonu +1000
    Kayvon Thibodeaux +2000
    Travon Walker +3000

2022 NFL Draft - Number 2 Overall Pick
    Malik Willis +380
    Kyle Hamilton+380
    Travon Walker +430
    Aidan Hutchinson +500
    Evan Neal +1000
    Ikem Ekwonu +1000

2022 NFL Draft - Number 3 Overall Pick
    Evan Neal +210
    Ikem Ekwonu +220
    Malik Willis +700
    Travon Walker +700
    Kayvon Thibodeaux +900
    Kyle Hamilton +900

2022 NFL Draft - Aidan Hutchinson Draft Position

    Over 1.5 +290
    Under 1.5 -440

2022 NFL Draft - Ikem Ekwonu Draft Position
    Over 3.5 +106
    Under 3.5 -144

2022 NFL Draft - Evan Neal Draft Position
    Over 3.5 -114
    Under 3.5 -114

2022 NFL Draft - Kayvon Thibodeaux Draft Position
    Over 5.5 -148
    Under 5.5 +112

2022 NFL Draft - Kyle Hamilton Draft Position
    Over 6.5 -108
    Under 6.5 -122

With above odds, here are my thoughts.

If QB Willis goes to Detroit as it is favored now, this will be the best thing for Jets.

In that case one of Ekwonu or Neal, Hamilton and Kayvon will be there at 4

So Vegas thinks Kayvon will drop to the Jets. Jets will decide if they want an OL, Safety or Kayvon.

Aidan Hutchinson is going to the Lions #1. He was born just outside Detroit, went to High School in Dearborn and then UMichigan.

He may not be the perfect pick but he is by far a better #1 than any QB in this draft. He's a better #1 than any QB in any draft not featuring a Manning or Luck in more than a generation.

I keep hearing over and over than KT is highly over hyped by some but not worth the pick. I don’t know the first thing about top edge skill set but apparently he doesn’t have the natural bent, move repertoire nor the 100% drive needed to be elite and a force at the next level. Am I miss reading the media?

I have a feeling the Jags will take an OT at 1 and the Lions take a pass rusher at 2, possibly the local kid. So, it'll come down to what the Texans do at 3. Do they take the other of Hutchinson or Thibodeaux who is still on the board, trade down, go with Hamilton, or someone else?

Well that definitely throws a wrench in the Hutchinson to Detroit line.

I'd be really surprised if the Lions took Willis or any other QB on the #2. There's too much talent out there and none of it is at QB, at least not in that area of the draftboard.

I wouldn't have thought in a million years Lions would go for a QB but Vegas hates losing money and according to Vegas Lions will either pick the QB Willis or an OL. We shall see.

Walker is the one who is being overhyped, part time player for two years and in his only starting season was mediocre at best and jumped to a top 10 pick?

If JD drafts Walker over Sauce, KT, or Hamilton with the 4th pick, he should be fired on the spot, Walker is not a top 5 prospect.

He was good enough that he kept JJ so far down on the depth chart, JJ transferred.

Is it because he was better or maybe because he was a hybrid player and allowed the Georgia defense more flexibility with him starting as DT?

Are we talking about the JJ who ended up the season with FSU with 70 tackles, 12 sacks, and ACC defensive player of the year?

Sauce is also a local boy and the Lions may want to give themselves a lockdown secondary with the capital they’ve put into the group.

Houston is drafting 2x. Are they more likely to get a quality EDGE at 14 or a OT, CB, S?

I think there is a realistic world where Hutch drops to #4

Either way, a strong football program preferred one over the other, is it that much of a surprise that professional organizations might come to the same conclusion?

I’m talking about a kid who who went to FSU after transferring from Georgia.

If there was a kid who went to USC and was so good he received an award from a different conference, I’d be on board with him.

There is a lot of Edge depth in the top half of the first round. I could see teams with multiple picks, including us, deferring on DEs until their second pick. You may not get your choice at the position, but could still walk away with a highly rated one.

My mistake with USC, thanks for the correction.

Plenty of students transfer, doesn’t mean the guys ahead of them were better than them.

There are plenty of examples of players that transferred because they knew they were not going to be given a fair shot.

Russel Wilson, Troy Aikman, JJWatt, Randy Moss, Joe Burrow…etc, as you can see college coaches make mistakes with their depth chart, doesn’t always mean they started the right guy.

And Williams was a huge success after transferring from Ohio state.

I’m not disregarding JJ, I’m pointing out how foolish it is to dismiss Walker. The people who saw him up close made their choice, dismissing him outright isn’t a good eval imo
