Just ran a 4.37 :eek:hmy:, and set what I believe is a new combines record for TE's with 33 bench presses ... also had an impressive 42" Vertical and 10' 8" Broad Jump

Damn,if only we didn't have so many other needs.Sounds like he could dominate at TE for years to come.

Dang!!! What did he measure in at?

Who knows its still possible we get him, all depends on what Abe commands. This whole draft hinges on what we can get for Abe, IMO

4.37 for a TE is awesome. We should see his stock rise a good bit.

Hes a freak. I've been ramblin about this man for some time now. Hes a mix of Gates and Shockey, and im drooling over that prospect. I would love to draft this kid if we werent going to draft D'Brick. I was thinking we should trade away next yrs 1st rounder for this kid, but then i remembered we might have a shot at a Brady Quinn next year. Heres to hoping John Abe gets us a high draft pick.

A lot of people say he's too small to be a real NFL TE, that he's just a big WR. I tell you, this guy is a TE. When he catches the ball it usually takes 2-3 players to bring him down--that is if he doesn't juke or hurdle over them. Vernon Davis is truly a man among college boys.

But wow, 4.37. I've seen him play and I didn't know he was that fast. I'm starting to take this Top 10 stuff seriously.

I remember GreenHurricane kept riding Davis, saying he would only measure in at 6'1. Well take this, 6'4, 260 pounds, runs a 4.3!!! What!!!

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned that vertical leap ... 42" ... that's every bit as impressive as Vernon's 40 time

Just an example, Kerry Rhodes had a 42" VL at the combines and that was one of the best VL's, if not thee best, for every DB in that draft

Now here's Vernon Davis, at 6' 3"+/260, with an identical VL :eek:hmy:

This kid is an athletic freak

    6'3 6/8, which equals 6'4

    So lets review...

    6'4 + 260 + 4.3 forty + 42' vertical

    =

    Jets first round pick

"Way above playing weight" but he still runs a 4.3 and has a 42 vertical. Dosent look like its affected him too much  Not even worried about 10-15 pounds to be honest, its not much of a difference anyway

Someone needs to find me that kid's email address so I can send Vernon a personal apology. Dang, 6-3 260 with a 4.38, 10-8 broad jump, 42 vert, and 33 reps. I know he was going to have good workouts, but wow. That's just scary.

I still don't think there's any reason at all for the Jets to take him with all their needs, but some team will probably go for him top ten after that.

I def think we should take him. It, in a way, address' multiple needs. Having a playmaker on Offense. It strengthens the OLine in a round about way by giving your QB a consistant outlet. He also will be a great blocker with that athleticism after getting some pro coaching. Vernon Davis + Best Available 2-3rd Rd QB + Best Available 2-3rd Rd OLine = Great start to the rebuilding

I'm in the same boat, GH ... up until now I have under-valued Vernon Davis ... I don't believe I have even placed him in the TOP 15 of any mock drafts, but that changes as of now

I have thought he was top-10 before the combine.

If you have heard anything about this kid (like I did during the VT-UM game) you knew he was a freak and a weight room fiend. He holds about every record at UM in terms of lifting/running/etc.

I've also suggested him as a possible #4 pick for us by including him in the 7 or so possible picks for our slot (Cutler, D.Brick, M.Williams, Ngata, Vernon, Hawk, D. Williams/V. Young)

4 IMO is too early. Id trade down to maybe the 9th or 10th pick, and consider him there. But not at the expense of a RB or QB. And thats the trick, balancing the two. We're not gonna get a QB and RB the same year, one of em is gonna come next year. So we have to find a way to take Davis and a QB/RB. I guess itd depend on the pick we get from Abe. Like Ive been saying, a big part of this draft hinges on what we can get for Abe

Did Vernon Davis just work himself into the top 10?

Buffalo Detroit or St. Louis must be licking their chops right now.
