TBH ill be shocked if we make it to the Super Bowl next season, hell ill be suprised if we win a playoff game.
I dont know how youd be shocked if we won a playoff game Odds are we end up a wildcard team, which means were playing a #3 pt #4 seed. So yeah i think we got a terrific shot of winning at least a playoff game And If Sanchez is legit, then def a contender
really? you would be shocked if we won a playoff game?! i dont get that comment, care to explain? i thought we filled all our needs this season besides RT, but i think wayne should get a second chance in this new offense...dont be suprised if he does good with the new blocking scheme.
After googling: http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/futures/ It says 13:1 from what i see Edit: id be shocked if we made it to the SB as well, i have no faith in our offense.
You really think the Jets filled all their needs accept RT in the offseason? I don't see it. I see a team that is about on par talentwise with last year's Jets team, and will need to get more out of what they have to be successful. I'm not saying they won't, but the "D" must be better, and the "O" must be much better, from Sanchez to the WR's to the RB's for thenm to be a playoff team this year. The AFC East will be tougher this year IMO.
It's important to remember that Vegas odds aren't just a prediction on how well the team will do. Big markets will tend to get lower odds because Vegas expects a lot of money to come in on those teams.
Well... yeah I do think we did I mean we Got rid of Schotty and got a legit ground and pound based OC We got better at the HB position (both via draft and progession of young guys) We completely revamped safety (4 new safeties on the roster, 2 of them are probowlish quality) We got the guy who was often considered the best pass rusher in the draft. We got possibly the most physically gifted receiver in the draft, as well as a solid depth player @ WR along with Kerley getting healthy. We got QB depth, as well as the necessary personal to run the wildcat. We got the personal to run a hybrid 4-3, 3-4, 46 defense. We got younger faster lighter and healthier at the ILB position, including a new 3rd down ILB. What more could we seriously ask for ? Obviously not EVERY move we made is going to work out, but... yeah unless im missing something EVERY need was addressed. Obviously we didnt get a younger 3-4 OLB, but thats because we got the personnel so we dont have to run a 3-4 nearly as often. We had a helluva off season, easily one of the best in recent memory (on paper at least) Theres no way this team is on par with our team from last season talent wise. This years team COMPLETELY eclipses them at virtually EVERY single position on the roster. Either we brought in new better guys, OR had another year for young guys to improve. Literally the only old guys on the roster who might decline due to age. Pace and Brandon Moore. Otherwise I expect every other returning player to have improved, Bart Scott included.
I agree with you to the fullest about our division its def a lot better than it has been...i think the bills are gonna be a good team this year so that makes it tougher on us. But as far as being on the same level as last year i think your wrong there...the defense will be better with mo and coples at the ends, i really have high expectations for coples. I think the saftey situation is way better even if laundry were to not work out i think an older bell is better than jim and pool. Eric Smith is a liability in coverage a lot of the time and i am really relying on Laundrys health before the season starts. As for the offense...Hill/Schillins are the make or break in my opinion. If one of those guys or both step up this offense can be explosive. I think the rb core is good and the o line should be fine although i do expect us to pick up atleast one vet backup. Kerley will be fine at slot and keller will be the same producer he always is. Special teams is always good with westy here. I really see us being more than competitive. Last but not least unlike last year we do have a serviceable backup qb god forbid Sanchez goes down, but think this is his year.
That's adorable. Your love of the Jets actually makes you believe they've had a "helluva" off-season. Sure, the team spent basically no money in free agency, but they did have a 1st, 2nd, AND 3rd round pick. I'm sure they'll be much improved, especially in comparison to the rest of the league
when i went to vegas in april, odds off Jets winning the super bowl were 15-1, so i put 100 bucks on us, so here's hoping haha
15-1 in April. 13-1 today. Anybody notice a trend? We're still an overlay btw. Few people realize just how despicable Schotty was.
Every point you made is a little on the homer side Point for point: You got an OC who is an unknown quantity Got worse at HB, losing Tomlinson. Idk how this could have possibly gotten better due to the draft unless Ganaway is somehow a stud and the rest of us don't know it Added 2 safeties who are average in coverage Added a guy who is capable of being a great pass rusher, but also has high bust potential Got possibly the most physically gifted wr in the draft, but also a relative unknown quantity and no idea whether he can run all the routes well or beat press coverage Got a QB who has a fan following like no player we have ever seen and is very bad at passing the ball Other issues: -Nothing done to address RT -Little done to address o-line depth -A switch to ground and pound style offense with no good blocking TE on the roster -Bart Scott and Bryan Thomas are another year older -No idea whether any of the LBs can play OLB in a 4-3 Let me just say I'm not saying the above is what will happen, but they are the opposite end of the spectrum to what you proposed, which was very optimistic.
Im not pretending that were favorites in the AFC, and that every upgrade is a monster improvement, im simply suggesting that we are more improved all around than last year. Sparano is an OC who has an identity, an identity that FITS our team. We are built to be a ground and pound run first physical defensive team. Schotty was all over the place pretending our whole offense was Peyton Fuckin Manning. LDT had nothing in the tank last year, he had 280 rushing yards for a reason. But Greene, McKnight, and Powel are all very young guys who didnt OTAs last year, so I naturally expect them all to improve significantly. Plus I expect Ganaway to be a welcome addition. No we didnt get Ray Rice or anything, but I expect the halfbacks to be better. Yeah added two safeties that were average in coverage, but both are monster tackling machines who are both pretty physical, as well as younger depth. Sure beats what we had last year, which was fucking dog shit. I don't see Coples as a bust at all, but I admit the potential is there. That said the guy was an early pick, who was projected to go much earlier, so usually these guys can provide an impact. Eitherway at the absolute minimum he gives us the personnel so that we can use mixed fronts, and that is incredibly valuable in itself. Again Hill has huge question marks, and Schilens is an injury risk. But look who we had last year. Old slow fucking Plax fresh out of prison. I dont care how much of a risk these young guys are, at least theyre young and athletic, and I dont see ANY WAY POSSIBLE that Plaxico > Hill + Schilens. So this can be anywhere from mediocre upgrade (based on raw athleticism) to a massive one (assuming they pan out) Again I dont expect Tebow to do much. However he adds another dimension to our game, which forces opposing teams to waste time and effort preparing for it every single week. True nothing to address RT, although we switched from a zone to a man blocking scheme. And considering that guys we have on the OL, this should be a better fit and should immediately improve the offensive line. Worst case scenario OL stays the same, but I find it INCREDIBLY difficult to believe our line can be worse than last year. Our OL depth is better than last year (not saying by a ton, but last year we had signed a guy and him immediately starting. At least now these guys have all been through a full year + of OTA/camps) We didnt have a good tight end for blocking last year either. This ill give ya Scott I think will be better than he was last year (lost weight, better shape, contract year) And Thomas is just depth (plus we will use more 4-3 fronts, which means hes on the field less) Agreed about the 4-3 olb thing, but I think with Rex at the helm the 4-3 3-4 thing adds more to the team than takes away from it. Im not saying all of these improvements were massive, game changing moves like adding a top 5 player or anything. However improvements WERE made, and they should simply be better than they were last year. It doesnt mean this is suddenly a Superbowl caliber team, but I have no question that this team IS better. And I doubt there are many people out there who can honestly say that expect this team to be worse now than it was last year
