I'm fine with that mock. Wells is a better fit in PHI than Moreno and Moreno is a good fit in ARI. Raji will probably go higher than 9th.

Smith and Monroe should be swapped, Michael Johnson went to early, and the Jets can not take Heyward-Bey, he's overrated

No Hakeem Nicks, Kenny Britt or Jarron Gilbert in the first?

That was what I was looking for too, I read this mock three times and was in shock that none of them were there.

If Nicks is there at 17, NYJ cannot pass him up.

alot of it makes sense but id rather have alot of players before DHB. seriously.

Maclin/Nicks are my two favs id like to see in rd 1

it depends on how the Sanchez scenario plays out. In another perfect world he falls to us, we trade back for a ransom and get the same player we were gonna pick at 17 anyways.

    I would become ill.

You think the Jet's would have learned a lesson from Gholston and following the Hype of a workout warrior at the combine.

Watch the game tapes people.....I said this before, it doesn't lie. Nicks is a football player...DHB is a track star.

agreed. I was drafting for a powder puff team, i'd take DHB at #17. In the NFL, give me the guy who makes around the back catches, breaks tackles and runs over people in his way (nicks)

Be careful. The last two wideouts to enter the NFL with similar hands of glue and bodies that looked the part were Marquise Walker and Mike Williams. Neither did much in the NFL.

I cannot offer a solid opinion on Nicks simply because I have not seen him enough.

I am worried that so many Jets fans want him. This is the same group that, as a whole, was in love with Gladys Gholston and disliked Matt Ryan.

Not me Cakes...you know better....I hated the Gholston selection. I had heated debates with Dware and others about avoiding Gholston.

Trust me, Nicks is about the safest Rd 1 pick, next to Curry. I've seen large portions of his body of work and he's a Boldin clone.

I was the small minority that liked both but knew only one was going to be available.... the one I wanted less.

I know you hated Gholston, but the board as a whole loved him. Of course, just because many people were wrong about GG, it doesn't mean they would be wrong about HN, too. But I am worried a bit is all I'm saying.

I understand your point......I'm usually going against the herd of bandwagon fans..."have to draft this guy"...blah, blah, blah.

I feel so strongly about Nicks, I'm certain he's going to be a fine NFL WR. His physical attributes and accomplishments on game day are amazing. Great hands, knows how to use his body to negate defenders when catching the ball. Great downhill running after the catch and a Huge Red-zone target.

what happened to mike williams anyway?

I agree, the Gholston thing last year was scary, it was literally after the combine people became obsessed with him. I wasn't on TGG last year unfortunately, but I used to read a lot of the forums on here. I was always in favor of trading down, but at number 6 I wanted a guy like Sedrick Ellis or McKelvin and people thought I was crazy. As you can tell from my dislike of DHB, I am never fond of workout warriors that get hyped through the combine.

Thank you, I still think Britt is the better option with the pick, I completely understand why people love Nicks I could see why. But lets be realistic Nicks is the most pro ready, but everyone knows most rookies get three years and are then judged. I really don't see only a few receiver that don't have fixable problems.

    YES! HEYWARD-BEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

    TROY WILLIAMSON BABY!

Never draft a guy with two last names. That's rule #1. Rule #2 is Heyward-Bey sucks. Rule #3 is, according to Rule #2, this is probably an accurate mock for the Jets.

I feel like teams and scouts talk up certain players so the Jets and Raiders become interested. Then they have to turn away as they burst out laughing.

I feel like I could get drafted by the Jets. I just gotta get an in with some scout that wants to talk me up.

    I wouldn't want Maurice Jones-Drew either.

I don't like DHB. WR's rarely make impacts early in their careers anyway and he's even more of a project then most. I wouldn't be happy if we passed on Sanchez at 17. I'm not his biggest fan but think he's a great value at 17 and if he somehow lasts that long should be the pick.

Nick Mike-Mayer was a 10th round draft choice of Atlanta in 1973 and was an All-Pro selection at kicker that year.

Steve Mike-Mayer was drafted in the 3rd round by San Francisco in 1975. He was a shitty kicker. I believe I once owned Topps trading cards of both Mike-Mayers.

Muhammad Shamsid-Deen (1992, 8th round, Seattle) never played in an NFL game that counted.

    ***

Then there are the guys with last names that consist of two words-

    The best Vans-
Steve Van Buren, Norm Van Brocklin, Brad Van Pelt, Jeff Van Note, Bruce Van Dyke, Billy Van Heusen.

    The best van-
    Mark van Eeghen.

Kyle Vanden Bosch is one of the better defensive ends playing today.
Antwaan Randle El is pretty good at what he does.

Garth Ten Napel was a linebacker for Detroit and Atlanta from 1976-78.

Kimo von Oelhoffen and Uwe von Schamann were decent players.

    How about three words?
Scott Von Der Ahe of the 1997 Colts

Great, Draft a WR that can't catch? :eek:hmy:

BTW - I got creamed here last year when I predicted Gholston as a bust. However, I was also taking into account our coaching staff. I think Rex just might be the man to get something out of him. Maybe he'll even teach him not to be afraid to tackle a RB. :jets:

I think we are in a better situation in the first this year. There is going to be a few good prospects at 17. I would be fine with Nicks but I think we'd be better off with Britt. Britt produces as well. He is much better at breaking tackles and getting extra yards when being wrapped up. Nicks just seems to go down to easy. But when he gets into space he's better to go all the way untouched. That space doesn't come around a lot in the NFL as it does in college. That's why I'd prefer Britt.
I wouldn't be surprised if we draft a rb though.

The only WRs I would ever THINK about taking in Round 1 is Crabtree/Maclin/Nicks.
