Weird times in Jetslandistan... it's like almost all attention is on AR, & any other discussion has been suspended.

And that's been my big problem with this whole AR circus.
Ummm, there's the rest of the team to consider... and there are lots of questions to consider, other than QB.
And my biggest question lies with the HC, Mr Saleh.
He lost the control of his whole team during the 2nd-half of last season. It was far from only about the QB that the team collapsed.
I'm troubled that he's basically ignored the collapse publicly, & without addressing it, it may recur at some point during the season, especially when things aren't going well.
MW's departure will help, as will MLF's jettison.

On a very positive side, the team has improved greatly, in that they now have an NFL-tested Offensive CS.
As much as many disliked the Hackett choice for OC, he's a Professional coach who's had some success in many positions over his career. He has knowledge based on experience, as do the new coaches he's brought on-board.
No more pledge of allegiance to the offensive scheme, at a cost to the talent on offense.
The 'me' guy has been traded.
Most likely, another QB will be running the show, & Zach has taken a seat on the bench, hopefully, to learn how to be an NFL QB... with the help of a few experienced coaches, & maybe his childhood idol.
And it seems, that the OL may be taking shape soon, with the 'return' of AVT, Mekhi, & probable additions to the OL via the draft.

There are a few big questions on D, most notably to me, nothing's been done so far to help them stop the run. I'm hoping they either bring in a hippo-like run-stuffer via the draft, or otherwise.
Safety is a concern, but Saleh et al, seem to think Tony Adams has the stuff to be a starter.
    We'll see.

I'll leave it at that for now... but I'm interested in what others think about the rest of the team.
Please leave the AR discussion to those threads... I don't know about y'all, but I think that subject has been pounded into a thin film of nothing, until something moves.

Well I guess you can count me in the NOT a fan of the Hackett hire. I’ll admit a big part of it is that I lived through the Paul Hackett years and I just hated him as OC *THAT* much…I get that this is not Paul but still…

I just feel that Hackett has ridden the coattails of Rodgers, much like Gase rode Peyton…and Hackett wasn’t even calling the plays at GB…that was the HC. And when he got his shot in Denver, he didn’t even last a whole year…that’s some kind of stink. On a side note, not sure where the comment about not being married to the system comes from, because I’ve heard so many excuses for Hackett as Denver HC around Russell Wilson not being a good fit for his system. OK, fine, but if you’re an offensive coach, figure some shit out. Change the system up a bit. He didn’t. And he got fired.

So yeah, I’m definitely in the I’ll believe it when I see it camp on our new OC…out of the candidates we talked to, none of which I feel were particularly dazzling by the way, Hackett was the one I wanted least….the ONLY bright side for me is that AR seems to like him, so if it helps that, then fine.

As to the rest of the team, I’m not sure I see much improvement at all. I think our OL got weaker with the loss of Herbig who I thought held up decently for a late acquisition, so I get that we’ll use the draft to bolster, and IF (and it’s a HUGE if) Becton actually plays and holds up that would help, but we can’t rely on that. So much work to do on OL. Hall may take a year to get back to form with the ACL, and don’t know what was up with Carter but he did not look very good last year, so RB will likely be weaker. Though I do think if AR does finally come here (and I think he will), that alone should be enough to help the running game.

On D, we need help at run stuffing DT like others have all said…hated to lose Rankins, and we have not replaced him with equal quality. I think safety will be fine, and I’d like to bring back Kwon and would be great to restructure Mosley if we could.

Not sure what the draft comp for Rodgers will be, but I feel like it may be a swap of picks 13 and 15 plus one of our 2nd rounders…but regardless, I’m assuming we’ll go OL, DT, and then either LB or S in the first few rounds.

In the end, we were a pretty good team last year outside of QB…if we’d even had league average QB play, we’d have been in the playoffs. So if we hit on a few draft picks and get our lines replenished, I think we should be pretty good, and assuming we do finally get Rodgers, I think we are a playoff team for sure…

I think they trade for a DT in August. Get another off the waiver wire

The 2nd half of the season implosion is extremely concerning. I don't know if Saleh lost the locker room as opined but the team seemed completely rudderless. I still can't figure out how the Jets even lost some of those games and I'm not even joking around.

I'd like to feel at least semi-confident that a kicker can kick. Can we do that? That would be a lot less anxiety provoking than feeling like we're gonna lose by 1-3 points as a gimme because Jets. That, or just add up the missed FGs. o_O

Saleh escaped much scrutiny for the 2nd half collapse... I get the impression he may be a little too nice to the players.

The "Mike F'N White" t-shirt fiasco was just dumb... and it was a harbinger for the rest of the season.

I like to wait until after the draft to get a better feel of where this team is at.

The first two picks might be Broderick Jones OT - Georgia and Luke Wypler C - Ohio St. Then how is everyone feeling about the OL? Probably a lot different than today.

I'm not sure what to think about any of this stuff the Jets are doing lately. Doesn't mean I'm against.... just not sure what to think.

I really didn't want to draft Zach Wilson and its been almost unbelievable how badly he worked out. Not sure what to think about Hackett.

I want to hope for success and good times this year but its the Jets.... so I guess you'd label me as "concerned" at the moment lol.

This is a fair assessment of the current situation. Hopefully most of the bigger concerns can be addressed between now and T.C., especially getting Rodgers, and having another elite draft. Much of making this draft elite IMO will be landing another stud OL or preferably two, and help stopping the run on "D"...maybe adding a stud receiver too.

I'm curious too about how they really feel about ZW. Do they actually realize that they had much to do with his struggle and failures, and is the replacing of MLF with Hackett geared towards fixing that (along with luring AR here)? Do they really think he can be what they thought they drafted? Despite what most Jets fans believe, I think that's the best outcome, that Zach can become the future FQB because he's got 2 years under his belt and knows how things work, as opposed to starting all over again with another rookie who likely won't be a "slam dunk" prospect, and will also require development, something the Jets have never been able to do.

In short, there's a lot of big questions hanging in the air.

I'm definitely NOT sold on the DC. THAT defense looked like total shit and LOST those last 6 games. Not a fan of Ulbrich.

They can start stitching the Broderick Jones Jets jersey now. Good fit and he will be available at 13

Terrible QB play. O-line devastated by injuires. Breece Hall injury. It all added up. 6 of their 10 losses were 1 score losses. It's not that hard to understand.

Tell me more about my eyes . . . Oh, they're bleeding? I thought so.

I knew the actual # was terrible but I wasn't in the mood for chest pains so I didn't look it up. I just went with the general vibe of dogshit.

It feels obvious that we’ve needed a draft like that for a decade. It also feels like in true Jetsonian fashion they’ll take a safety and a tightend with the first two picks
