Hey everyone, after watching numerous hours of tape and looking mostly at the top prospects I dove into some of the other day 2 and day 3 prospects. I came away really impressed with a few stand out players that I’m shocked aren’t getting more attention. 1. Boye Mafe Edge - This player is really impressive with his speed, strength and motor. I was blown away with how he explodes off the ball and has a good combinations of moves. He can use speed and dip around the corner or use strength to push tackles into the pocket. His hand strength is unbelievable once he gets close to the QB. I’m shocked he has a second round grade. He reminds me of Carl Lawson when I studied him when we signed him. 2. JT Woods S - Probably one of the most underrated DBs in the draft. This kid is an absolute baller with great length and instincts. He can play all over the field, he can line up on TEs, he can play in the box, he can play Center field. I think he is the best safety in the draft besides Hamilton. He reminds me of Justin Simmons. 3. Jerome Ford RB - This prospects has an excellent combination of size and speed. He can run inside or outside. He can run with power or with speed. I really don’t understand how he has a day 3 grade. I feel he’s definitely in the top 3 for RBs in this class. Reminds me of Antonio Gibson. 4. Khalil Shakir WR - Some of the best hands I’ve seen in a prospect. The kid catches everything. He’s maybe not the fastest on tape but he’s twitchy and quick with excellent hands. I didn’t see him drop a ball in the tape I watched. I get the day 2 grade because of his lack of straight line speed but as a slot player he can be really effective. Reminds me of Hunter Renfrew. 5. Cole Strange G - He’s just a rock in the middle of the line. We’ll rounded and doesn’t give up plays to the DL. I’m surprised he’s not considered a day 2 guy as he plays the game at a high level with his feet, positioning and strength. He reminds me of Zack Martin which is high praise.
Nice list, thanks for compiling. Do you think Cole Strange is a guard-only prospect or could be play center? I think he's a Jets target in the 3rd or maybe even earlier. The other guys are intriguing too. Shakir would be a great choice if they double-dipped at WR I'd love to trade back in the 1st (love Max's projected trade with NO for 16 and 19). I think there's more value there than 4 and maybe get Boye Mafe
take a look at markquese bell at safety too and noah eliis at DT. both are likely 5th round guys and both I think would be great fits for us with that said I really like ford in the 4th and shakir maybe in the 3rd if we don't take a WR but I like wandale better and he's a 4th rounder and I like austin III better then shakir. I think shakir is good but will be drafted higher then better WRs for whatever reason. strange is nice but I can't justify taking an OG higher then the 4th this year
Strange is too big for Center in my opinion but he’d be a great depth pick in the 4th/5th. Mafe looks really good on tape. I think he might go at the back end of the first from what I’ve seen.
I 100% think Strange could end up being out C with a pick in the 3rd. I think Strange at C would make for a solid Line.
