Nobody's talking about how yet again, vs a real opponent, he can't get this defense to do much of anything, except be taken advantage of. Hes at his best vs teams ..we can "beat". He really doesn't show much , as this defense looked every bit the 6 straight loss team it was last year. Its early. They need to gel, they need reps...I get it. Looking like lipstick on pig already..
It was truly a terrible performance by a supposedly "Top Five Defense". The scheme was a mistaken approach from the start... and no adjustments were made. The defense couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs... and add in the inability to create or get a turnover. That missed pick-6 by Sauce was a 14 point swing. I lost count of the missed tackles I saw. I'm starting to get the feeling that Ulbrich ain't all that smart...
I'm willing to give him a Mulligan. Our main issues are the OL and QB(Captain Obvious). However, he better have this D ready to annihilate the Pats.
If we had an offense that didn’t go 3 and out every drive the defense wouldn’t be gassed all the time. The offense needs to sustain long drives so the de can rest. Dallas offense was on the field 42:15 to our 17:45. Is that a statement of how bad the defense was or how bad our offense was?
If the defense wasn’t pathetic as well, those numbers wouldn’t be as lopsided and would have given the offense a few more drives to help turn those numbers around. Both were bad and played a major part in the loss.
I get what you're saying and you're not wrong generally speaking this defense holds the other team down until they're completely gassed from our offense never sustaining drives. That was not the case Sunday. Cowboys started with a 12 play 75 yard drive moved the ball freely right from the start.
It’s Salehs defense. I don’t think either he or Ulbrich are very good at their jobs. They basically run a system that only works if you have a ton of talent.
What was glaring was the flat affect. It was so lackluster I thought CBS was making a hostage tape. You could re-wind this performance to any given year. Either coming of an emotional win or a huge win, the D goes comatose the following week. "Can't wait" gives me PTSD.
They do have better than decent talent, who are you kidding. It is on coaching though for sure. I don't belong to social media but I do hear tell that Sauce Gardner was banging his own drum so loud he went deaf on game day.
They do, but you need to have 2019 49ers or Legion of Boom talent for it to work. Jets aren’t at that level.
I think the D gets a different form of criticism because it's held to a higher standard, mostly because it's the better side of the ball. It's easier to fault when they fall asleep at the wheel. That being said, the O is the Jets achilles heel for sure. I'll show myself out.
The offense started with two straight 3 and outs, then a first down and a 3 and out. The D already knew they were in for a long day. You gotta move the ball slow down the game, and give the D a chance to breathe.
Agree with you Brooklyn. Not defending the defense because they did miss tackles, had some blown coverages, and of course Sauce miss Int. But this is vs a very good offensive team. Got to give defense a break and time to adjust but going 3 and out several times in a row didn’t help. I don’t get why folks don’t think this is a good defensive team. Maybe they are not a top echelon defensive team but they are good. They did well vs the Bills. And folks forgot that.
Like when Dallas took the game's opening series on a 9 minute stroll to 7 points? Or when our defense gave them their second touchdown after an 8 minute rest during our only touchdown drive?
As I said above... Both of Dallas' touchdowns happened after our defense got long rest periods. They took the game's opening drive in for a touchdown. Was 6 days not enough rest for our vaunted defense?
The scheme should have been different against Dallas.... no adjustments were made on either side of the ball.
Or like the defense single handedly won us the buffalo game? When will the offense single handedly win us a game its been forever. The offense going 3 and out every drive does not help this de one bit.
