Let?s talk about him, someone we could get with one of our 4th. He?s projectet as a CB/S-Tweener, with good size (5?11, 204lbs) and great speed (4.31 at the combine). He might be fit at 2 positions for us. If we are lucky, he shows some potential, and could become our #2 CB. If he busts at CB, there?s a good Chance, that he becomes a solid Coverage S, with great range, wich would allow Rhodes to do what he does best: make plays on the Ball all over the field. Here?s his scouting report from NFLDraftcountdown: Thoughts?
Really like this guy. Tough, with good size and blazing speed. He will be long gone in the 4th though. He is fast rsing up the boards and looks like will go late 2nd or 3rd. Another kid in the same mold that I like is Charles Godfrey of Iowa. Another big, fast CB that can play S as well.
I know it's not our biggest need, but Tyrell Johnson wouldn't be a bad pick. He'd fit nicely next to Kerry Rhodes. If a solid wideout, or cornerback isn't on the board at 36, I wouldn't mind trading down into the middle of the second round to select Johnson and pick up more picks in the 3rd or 4th. I believe Mangini likes drafting defensive backs in later rounds and coaching them into good, if not great players.
